Typical Meiwa kumquat tree can't stand on its own
« on: July 02, 2022, 08:32:00 PM »
Typical Meiwa kumquat tree can't stand on its own 2 roots. I don't know why but all mine have been that way.

But my Fukushu kumquats stand tall and proud.

My guess all  the trees that cannot stand on their own roots were transplants, that were not planted properly,  For now stake them up.

I will be stringing them up from above so that the trees can sway in the wind.  More flowers and lean.

My Fukushu kumquat has fruit growing greener and bigger but no lean.

The Meiwa kumquats are from seed.  They never could hold themselves up since reaching 8 inches tall.  The trunks don't grow in diameter and send out water sprouts that are bigger instead.  I have thought about growing them like grapes.  All 10 0f my seedling Meiwa trees grew that way.
