Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: A use for dropped mangoes
« on: June 11, 2015, 09:38:18 PM »
In Kerala,India, it is usual to make a pickle with immature mangoes, chopped into quarter inch bits, with salt and chili powder and a little vinegar. Mangoes which are a couple of weeks from maturity can be peeled and cooked with sugar to make an excellent jam, if thinned with more water, it tastes like apple sauce.

My first two veneer grafts!

Thank you so much for yr nice Video. Watching yr video on veneer grafting helped me to succeed grafting avocadoes, where earlier I had only failures. I get over 90% takes. Thanks Carlos

Hello, Do pawpaw trees require chill to fruit?

737
Hello, Petai seeds are commonly cooked with shrimp in Malaysia and does taste nice, it is supposed to flush out yr kidneys. But  next day yr piss smells so horrible that you will have to clean yr toilet a dozen times before the smell goes.

738
Hello, Salak Madu is a hydridised variety and so the seeds do not fruit true. This is what I was told by a farmer near Yogyakartha, when I bought the fruits and asked him about planting the seeds. He told me that all the trees in his farm are grafted ones.

739
Hello Kenny, My tree was about seven years old. I bought it as a four year old from a nursery.

740
Sorry

A photo of my plant.

Yes, I use a soluble fert with 13:27:27.  In 2013 when I started using this in August, I got fruits from Sept to Jan. So in 2014 I did not use this fert and I hardly got any fruits. So in Dec I started applying and now since Feb I am having fruits.

743
Miracle needs full sun. Applying high PK fert gives fruits for a longer season.

I got a lot of polyemryonic seedlings when I sprouted about 50 avocado seeds for rootstock. Which of the shoots is true to the parent?

745
I have Miracle fruit plants which have flowered in 18 months. Fertilise with high P:K: soluble Fert, like "GreenCare" every two weeks.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: priyoor mango seeds..
« on: April 30, 2015, 12:51:23 PM »
I do not know whether it is polyembriyonic, but what Ajesh says is true. I have a tree grown from seed and many of my friends have trees grown from seeds and all fruiting true. Also I have never come across a "priyoor" grafted seedling in the nurseries, it is always seeded ones. This mango is found only in central Kerala. The raw mango tastes like Gauva so it is also called "Gauva mango" in Malayalam.

747
Hello Isolona, Do you still have Annonidium manni seeds? Where are you situated?

Hello Roy, I am from Kerala. Do you have Garcinia seeds other than Camboge, Indica, Hombroniana, Xanthocymus, and Madruno? A reply will be highly appreciated. Chandramohan.

Will pawpaws fruit in places were there is no chill? but min is 65 and max. is 85. I got some seeds from "jlhudson seedman'. And out of 8 seeds soaked in 500 ppm GA3 for 6 days, two have sprouted. I am planing to take them to India. Any advice would be very helpful.
