Tropical Fruit Discussion / Garcinia Nitida Seeds
« on: April 01, 2015, 01:07:15 PM »
I received a couple of Garcinia Nitida seeds from Tradewindfruits, on Saturday after being in transit for over a week. The seeds were in wet Vermiculite? and they had sprouted, they had about half an inch of roots at one end and a quarter inch of shoot at the other end. But they look sort of dried out. Any way I soaked them in water for an hour and then placed them between moist paper towels. Today I will buy some spagnum moss and plant them in it. Can any body tell me will the seeds survive?

Hello, I have had two bad experiences with Ebay out of three purchases. I went against the advice of my daughter and my friends , not to buy any thing on Ebay. I bought a Beermachine, which was labled as "New", the price was attractive, about $63. When I opened the box, which arrived after a long delay, I found that the base of the Beermachine was shattered, the machine was used, because the Defoamer discs packet, which normally contains three Discs was opened and there was only one Disc, and the small box containing 3 nos. of  8gm C02 bulbs was not there, instead  there was a box containing 10 nos !! imported from Europe !!!. I should Know!! because I have 3 Beermachines!!!.The packing was excellent, so it could not have broken in transit, it was double boxed, with cushoning material between the boxes. When informed, Ebay passed on the information to the seller, and that guy replies that he does not know what I am talking about!! The second incident happened because I had already ordered before the Beermachine arrived, I had ordered a 10gm jewellers balance to weigh GA-3 for soaking seeds !! When it arrived and I checked it I found the back lighting in the LCD display does not work! On informing the seller came back saying that model did not have back lighting!! when the itself manual says if  "the back lighting does not light up, to press the light switch", which was not there on the machine. The seller offered to refund $3, which I accepted, instead of going to all the trouble of returning it and not knowing whether I wound get a refund. So I have decided never to shop on Ebay!!! As regards Paypal, to open an account, they require all personal information, which my daughter refuses to give,as she has had Idenity Theft more than once, and paypal does not linkup with a gift card, so much so that I am unable to buy any seeds from the forum members. So I make all my purchases using Gift Cards. Chandramohan.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Sugar Apple pest?

In my place mealy bugs are a menace to all Annonas. What I do is use any pesticide diluted and with a little liquid soap added. Liquid soap is required because mealy bugs have a waxy coating which prevents the pesticide from wetting them . As the mealy bugs are farmed by the ants, dusting around the trunk with any ant repellant is a must. Also make sure that none of the branches touch adjacent trees for the ants to bridge. This method has been 100% sucessful!!

Look at this one that came up out of this rotted muck. Glad I didn't toss them.

I am a new member. I am getting a few Ilama seeds in a few days. I would be very thankful if some body will tell how to germinate them. Has any tried using GA-3? Chandramohan
