rare myrtaceae to ID
« on: February 14, 2017, 05:45:54 PM »
Hi, this rare myrtaceae seems to be an eugenia, we believed it was eugenia involucrata, but the fruits are smaller en with not much pulp

and taste was bitter...

what do you think it could be?

My friend bought it at Misiones, this is not a tree of mine

Thanks in advance

Don

Definitely not involucrata, doesn't look like anything I have.

How large are the berries? If they're 1/4 to 3/8" bitter and filled with small seeds like a fig it looks like / sounds like it may be myrtus communis

My GF makes Mirto a liqueur from the berries.

"Myrtus communis seguro no es...semillas tiene dos por fruto...supongo que se trata de alguna mirtácea autóctona..
En algún momento supuse que era murta, pero no y por lo que me parece tiene porte de ser una planta mas arbórea y no tan arbustiva como muchas mirtáceas..."

"Boa noite Marcos

Essa deve ser a Myrcianthes cisplatensis.
