Ok, since I have one weird pomelo variety that likes to have tons of seeds, I thought I will do a contest for all the members who have purchased/traded/sold things to me.

No other people need to guess, this is only for those I have sold items, traded items, or purchased items.

I love the Pomelo fruits, so I have most of the good tasting pomelos. Some pomelos seems to have more seeds in them than others. For example the Reinking has a lot of seeds, maybe 20-30 seeds in one fruit. But I have a seedling pomelo tree which gives good tasting fruits, I called it Roy pomelo.

The seeds in this Roy pomelo have the most I have ever seen. Check out the number of seeds there was in just 2 fruits I cut open and ate.

Here's the photos, guess how many total seeds in the last photo with the seeds drying on the paper towel.

You might be able to count most of the seeds in the photo.

Citrus General Discussion / Pomelo With Lots of Seeds
« on: January 12, 2025, 06:38:13 AM »
Does anyone know why some citrus fruits have so many seeds?

I grow many different citrus varieties, most of my trees all have 5-30 different varieties grafted on the branches of one tree.

I will count the number of seeds when they dry up, just washed the seeds tonight.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Carmine Type Guava - Red Blush on Fruit
« on: December 05, 2024, 12:30:48 AM »
I wanted to see if anyone else has found tropical guava trees which has fruit that are mostly yellow skin, but with some splash of red, similar to the Carmine Guava from China.

I will post some photos I have from fruit trees I found and tasted the fruits off of them.
1. Sylvia guava - very similar fruits as the Carmine, may be a Carmine. This tree was from Taiwan.
2. Unk Carmine #2- looks like a Carmine fruit, large, yellow with red splash on the fruits.
3. Unk Carmine #3- looks very similar to item 2 above, but this fruit seems to be more round.
4. Unk small fruit- fruits on this tree is always small, pear shaped, has some red splash, but the inside flesh is yellow.

I'll post some photos I took later this week. Also did my own taste test of these fruits, guess which one came up #1?

Citrus General Discussion / Albino Citrus

Ok, I thought it would be interesting to see what citrus varieties get the albino branches spontaneously.

I have 3-4 branches that are albino. Here's a few below that you might like. If you have any branches or seedlings that are mostly albino, then please post your photos.

Citrus General Discussion / Satsuma Tree - SoCal fruits
« on: November 24, 2024, 12:44:42 AM »
I thought I would share some photos again of the satsuma tree that is very productive here in SoCal.

This tree had over 2,000 fruits last year. This year it looks to have about 1,000 fruits. I picked about 100 fruits today. The fruits on this tree usually are ripe from November - January.

Fruits are easy peel, seedless, and pretty sweet. Much sweeter than my Fallglo, Washington Navel, Lane Late, Cara Cara orange, or Kishu mandarin right now.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Seedless Avocados - Anyone Growing It?
« on: November 15, 2024, 12:49:32 AM »
Wanted to ask if anyone here is growing any of the seedless avocado varieties (Wilson Seedless, Pepino Seedless, Tyson Seedless).

If you are growing the seedless avocado, can you let me know if all of your fruits are seedless (not chukes) and how large your fruits are. Please post any photos you have of the seedless avocado fruits.

I think I have a variety but don't remember which one it is. It had a few very small fruits last year that were seedless, and this year again, all the fruits were a little larger (2" or so long) and all had no seeds. I hope next year the fruits will get larger. For my variety, the skin needs to turn black before it is ripe. It is so small that it's hard to determine if it has much taste. I took photos of my miniature seedless fruits, will post later this week.

I will post a few photos of how large the green fruit will get (the big ones) and a few photos of the leaves and tree later tonight or tomorrow.
These fruits are green, oblong, size ranges from 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" long.

Here's a fruit photo from the tree owner. I think this was one of the larger fruits. When I went today to cut the tree, most of the fruits were about 1-1/2" to 2" long, skinny and long, but still not fully mature fruits.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Loquat: Big five star loquat
« on: September 14, 2024, 04:36:58 PM »
Has anyone grown this new loquat variety from China called "Big five-star loquat"?

I read it is supposed to be one of the top loquat fruit there. I did see some YouTube video of a guy picking the fruit and eating it.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NO1fkJAib44

I have seen some photos online, it looks like the flesh is orange, has only a few seeds and is supposed to taste excellent. If you have a grafted tree with the fruit, please post the photo of your fruit.

Citrus General Discussion / Nine Pound Lemon
« on: September 11, 2024, 05:44:52 PM »
Is anyone growing the Nine Pound Lemon variety?

I have my tree for over 5 years now, and it still does not get very large fruits. The largest fruit on it so far was only 2-3 lbs each.

If you have a fruit that is over 5 lbs on this variety, please post a photo, I would like to see that it will get that large.

I grafted a larger seedling mulberry tree I have been waiting to put my Sangue e Latte to keep for myself but changed my mind. I will now sell this grafted tree later this year.

I may also add my Contorted mulberry scion wood on this tree, and maybe the Australian Green mulberry.

So, if anyone who has purchased from me before wants to buy it later this year, let me know.

For Sale:
1. Grafted Sangue e Latte tree, has 2 grafts done this year
2. Additional graft of Contorted mulberry - To be added this week.
3. Additional graft of Australian mulberry - To be added this week.
4. May give you one more, the Skinner scion grafted if there is a good branch to use.
5. You must have purchased from me before, be a forum member for minimum of 1 year.
6. CA only, too large to ship it.
7. You can schedule a local pickup nearby.
8. Cost is $200 with at least the 3 grafts (items 1, 2, 3).

You will need to make the commitment to buy now, and I will remove this post.

If you are interested, then send me a message. This will not be sold (shipped) until the new grafts have healed so probably by Nov-Dec it can be picked up. You can pay me when it is ready for pickup.

I did another multi-grafted tree for someone else on our forum with 5-6 varieties and it grew well. That tree was much older (6-7 ft tall, 3" trunk diameter).

I'll post a few photos of the tree later showing the 2 Sangue e Latte grafted branches. It should grow fast in the next few months so may be a few feet long.

Looks like my Red Himalayan tree won't stop growing so fast. I had to cut some large branches again in just 3 months.

So, some of you will be able to buy (free) cuttings, just pay for the shipping cost.

Here's the cost for this cutting:
1. Red Himalayan cuttings, qty=6-8 per order, $0 (free)
   > the cuttings will be 1/4" - 3/4" diameter x 8-12" long approximately.
   > I will mix up the sizes so don't ask me for specific diameter.
2. Shipping cost for CA residence = $11, USPS priority mail, small/med flat rate box or equivalent. Box size is 5"x8" long or a little longer.
3. Shipping cost for non-CA residence = $18 USPS priority mail, medium flat rate box or equivalent.
   > Many of these cuttings have long leaf node spacing so it won't fit in a small flat rate box with 3-4 leaf nodes on it.

4. You must be a forum member for a minimum of 6 months and have either traded with me or sold/purchased from me in the past.
5. Sales to lower 48 states.
6. I only take PayPal only, Friends & Family.
7. I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone. If I don't reply to your message, that means I will not sell it to you.

So, these cuttings are free, but you will need to pay for the shipping cost ($11) or ($18) only.

Please send me your message and make payment by no later than Sunday night. I will start shipping as I get the payment.
Final orders must be paid by this Friday, I will ship the last orders out next Monday.

I'll post some photos of the random sizes of scion wood cuttings (mix) you will receive.

I forgot to mention these Red Himalayan mulberry cuttings are very difficult to root so it will be best for you to graft them.
I have not heard of anyone that has rooted these cuttings. Every once in a while, I put some cuttings in my pots and none have rooted yet.
