I have a large Valentine pummelo tree about 18 years old. The flesh of a valentine fruit is very deep purplish/red, and very sweet.  It has no (zero) acid taste,

Ideal pH for citrus growing medium is 6.5.   However, any  soil between 6 and7 should be fine.  Just be sure to be under 8.

Dosen't look like mites or thrips to me.  Looks to be leaf fungal diseases

On a tree that small I would remove all of the fruit.   If however you wish fruit just leave one.  Citrus fruit draws all of its growth energy from only the three closest leaves to the fruit.

I am confused why so many people have such a difficult time controlling spider mites.   For me,  a strong water spray once or twice gives excellent control.

I think it also has fertilizer issues.  Organic fertilizers do not work well in container grown trees, as there is not enough micro organisms to brake  down organic fertilizers into a usable forum.  Also, using an excellent fertilizer like Jacks once (a month ago) is also not a proper fertilizer schedule.

I have always just used the hose with my thumb over the end to make a strong spray, and wash the entire tree.  For me this process has never failed me.  Some times it takes a second spray to get the few left.

Yes, the higher up on the tree the twig will have a higher node count to start it out.

1rainman many people would disagree with you concerning Meyer Lemon as being a quality lemon.

Minneola flowers are self incompatible, thus require pollination by another citrus variety.  Dancy, kinnow and clementine are all good pollinators.

I have known Hershell for a long time, ever since  the original forum that Lazz developed 10 or more years ago, way back when Hershell was a  greenhouses builder. At that time his daughter was also on the forum. Hershell you now most likely have the greatest citrus variety greenhouse in the USA for both hobby and commercial growers. I hope to see you again at Stan's next Southeastern citrus growers convention this fall. Once again thank you for all you do for the hobby and professional citrus growers.

That is a great place to have the Expo.  Thanks Hershell

Magnesium.  Do not apply at high temperatures or low humidity.  Apply in the morning or late afternoon.  Use 4-oz. per gallon warm water as a foliar spray.

In zone 7, sooner or later your trees will die, unless they are protected in some manner during winter cold spells.

jbtx1234 thanks for your above post on Kroger's less than quality fruit.  The flavorless Sumo fruit in my above post was purchased from Kroger.

23
Brian I certainly agree with Eyeckr that your Sumo tree really looks healthy and this years crop on your tree looks amazing..

24
My wife purchased 4 Sumo from the store.  They were nether sweet nor sour, just flavorless.
