Does anybody grow Luma or other related species in the US? It is similar to Surinam cherry and that group

Is it worth growing for fruit and are there any improved varieties?

The fruit I have tasted was mediocre but maybe someone else knows more about different cultivars. The trees are very pretty.

I agree, huge tree’s and grove at Strybing arboretum in SF but fruit is not that exciting out of hand.
