Raul I have been sending you messages
-
My seeds were confiscated and destroyed by customs. 160$ and the loss of rare genetics. Nothing I can do about it. Hopefully everyone else had better luck.
-
No luck here either, mine were destroyed as well. Obviously not the sellers fault but super bummed. :'(
-
Big brother stole my seeds. I hate the government. Nothing but over reach in everything they do.
Raul, next time label it as religous beads.
-
Seeds came through to south Florida in excellent condition!
Raul forgot one seed but this is not my first time ordering with him and I know he’ll make it right!
Didn’t know others had issues so I’m grateful my order passed customs
Raul is the man!
-
REALLY saddened to hear of the losses - especially with no apparent rhyme or reason, since I too received Raul's shipment undisturbed, unopened - near as I can tell.
Sorry too for Raul - since it renders his tremendous sense of good faith useless.
-
By the way when BP and customs agriculture department confiscates this stuff, they send you the package without the seeds with a letter in it listing the laws you broke and saying "possible fines and jail time blah blah blah".
You got to put something besides Semillas on the description or they take it. Rosary beads would be better.
-
Thankfully, mine just arrived in the mail just as ordered. First time ordering anything out of country. How often would you guys say U.S. customs find and destroy seeds? I probably would have bought more but wanted to play it safe.
Thank You Raul, time to go see if my noob-self can get these guys to germinate.
-

last time they made it from raul.
you should let your seeds dry and sit for 9 months before trying to germinate. i know others will say thats not the case, but trust me at least save some and do that.
-
Not going to rant about the gov because boy do I hate some gov, wish we had an actual free market. Sorry to hear about the losses in here. My packaged arrived untouched yesterday and seeds look great. Thank you for what you do Raul.
Just for reference 4/4 past packages arrived fine so far from him over the last year or so of ordering so I'm pretty lucky I guess. As always excellent quality seeds. Raul you rock!

9 months dry? Is this only for anonna species? This is the first time I've heard that tek.

:o ???
-
Yes its true, you can search about germinating llama seeds. If you try it now without luck, you will remember this conversation and try again in 9 months with better luck.
-
Ilama takes a long time to germinate, and many use gba to stimulate and facilitate the process.
If Brad has a natural way (9 month dry wait), would certainly listen and give it a try.
Just enough time to have a baby in the mean time.
-

Mine was labeled Semillas too. I got the same letter saying the laws I’d broken. Nearly 60 seeds down the toilet. Such a shame. I was planning on using these genetics to start an Ilama breeding project. Had plans for these seeds for years to come. Which is unique, this is really the first step into breeding I was going to do. So any other loss would have stung less than this one. I’m hoping to figure something out so it’s not a total loss but I’ll probably have to get the small lots permit and order again, eating the loss entirely.
Sucks that i’m not the only one, but on some level i’m glad i’m not feeling this pain alone.

they sprount right away if you leave them dry to age. i think it has to do with their natural dry season length and embryo development. i posted something about it a few months ago. search for llama germination. using chemicals is totally unnecessary. I sprouted some after 2 years dry and all speouted within 1-2 weeks.

"Beads" not seeds sounds like the way to go.
Sux losing seeds/plants/scions/whatever in shipping. Has happened to me a few times now. Lost considerable amounts of $ too.
Lost an AeAe nanner plant due to whacko usps issues last year, along with a few others.
Had seeds confiscated from out of country, complete with legal threats as others have reported.
Imaging cellmate 1 asking cellmate 2, "Whatchu in for?"
Cellmate 2, "Semillas man."
Cellmate 1, "You too?"
-
I am very sorry for all the confiscated seeds. In my opinion if you order only a few seeds, then cutoms will no notice it or bother about, but if the amount of seeds is bigger, then the risk of loosing it increases...

the quantity doesnt matter really. i only ordered 12 seeds. im sure they were clean and dry and posed 0 threat to this country. Its ok if 100,000 people walk accross our southern borders unchecked each month though. As long as we keep out their fruit seeds!
In my perfect world, public servants in customs would contact the recipient and make sure the seeds pose no threat and then decide if they look clean and safe instead of just tossing them and threatening us with legal action. Of course that would make too much sense!!!
-
I dream of a world in which common sense, knowledge, science, and reason drive decision making. I keep dreaming.
...and re-ordering seeds
-
Still waiting here in Australia our government is 100 x the nazi level of the US government so not holding my breath…..
-
Looks like Big Brother got mine too--
-
Got my one yesterday here in LA.
-
My Spicy and StAC custard apple seeds were also confiscated.
-
same, seeds destroyed, and nice letter enclosed.
-
Does that mean the value of my spicy seedlings (yet sprouted) has increased? =)
Sorry for everyone's losses. It is frustrating, and doesn't seem necessary or even rational.
-
Thanks Raul,
My seeds arrived in Puerto Rico.
-
same, seeds destroyed, and nice letter enclosed.
Same here, Kaz.
Maybe we should get a PO BOX address in Vegas and get all the seeds shipped there.
-
2X (orders), rats !
Just got my second envelop today.
-
God damn assholes stole my whole order... Zero luck with any international orders yet. Not blaming Raul here, just really pissed of at customs idiots
-

what about Soncoya?
-
Yes the Australian laws are shockers when combined with the level of discretion to destroy and seize the inspectors have. The laws regarding Annonas have recently changed here and virtually all are permitted now. Thanks Raul they made it. I fell kinda naked having only 4 varieties of ilamas no new blood (sap) is just what I need.
-
I got a love letter too saying they took my seeds :'( :'( :'(
-
Anyone else still waiting for their seeds? I haven’t received seeds nor have I got a letter to say they have been confiscated haven’t heard anything from Raul to say they have been sent?? Checking post office daily hoping they are arriving seeing as so many people in this thread already got theirs??
-

In the US, you can get a “small lot seed import permit” here:
https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/import-information/permits/plants-and-plant-products-permits/plants-for-planting (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/import-information/permits/plants-and-plant-products-permits/plants-for-planting)
It’s free; you fill out the form with the countries you want to import from and “eligible taxa” for the species. I faxed it in and got the permit, labels and instructions for use emailed to me in about two weeks. I haven’t had anything confiscated using this, and the addition inspection didn’t seem to add much delay to the shipping. Might help, especially for the more expensive orders.
-
I have the small lot seeds permit and my seeds were still confiscated. Not sure what went wrong.
-
Got my LL from the Feds yesterday- hammer524 did you specify annona spp. from jalisco? I am noticing on the small lot seed permit you cannot select "mexico" but must specify the state in mexico seeds are coming from
-
I just selected mexico. I guess that was the reason, thanks
-
Got my seeds today! I import through USDA using small lots of seed permit. Thanks Raul!
-
did you have jalisco marked molo?
-
For USDA seed import permit, I just have Annona seed from Mexico. You need to have the green and yellow label on the front of the package with the permit inside with a list on inventory. Raul mails it to the USDA office on the green and yellow label (Escondido for me). USDA will then forward package to your address on the permit after inspection at no additional cost.

That's a bummer. I remember when I got some weird seeds from China for no apparent reason. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/newsroom/news/sa_by_date/sa-2021/buying-seeds-plants-online (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/newsroom/news/sa_by_date/sa-2021/buying-seeds-plants-online)

Hi couldn't find the "modify" option to eliminate the "two weeks Pause" at the post title, seeds are available again there's not many left, I just feeling better now after having vaccination lack of energy symptoms along with mess of Hurricane Nora, sorry to hear some of the seeds were taken by customs, I suggest specially in the case of large orders apply for the permit, in most places customs seem to be relax with only a few more vigilance in Florida. I'll start to contact some of you as unfortunately there's not many seeds for the demand I'll go next July to Guatemala and bring more as these varieties are a True gem 💎 and most people need to have them, they are way better than other ilamas or annonaceas I have ever tried
In The amazing complex very sweet flavor with several different notes and specially the juicyness is a great factor as most ilamas lack juice that is why they are call sometimes the cheese cake fruit.

That's Gibberellic Acid you mean correct? how long did you treat the seeds with it for? and what percentage/strength of soultion?

Seeds are still available... You can sprouted this coming spring after their dormancy, take advantage of these amazing selections with an excellent flavor and colors hardly matched in other ilamas 😀
-
Can I piggy back on anyone's order to the USA? I've already had issues with USDA and trying to get seeds. Thanks!!!

Thanks Raul, seeds arrived today in really good shape, I'll see how they sprout in a couple of months. It was really easy to get a permit through USDA and the shipment was processed through the Orlando/Miami facility with no problems. You handled the permit process professionally and I appreciate the extra work that you put forth. I'll be checking on your future adventures and hopefully you will find something that I just have to have. Thanks again.
-
I received my order and everything was perfect!
Thank You Sir!
-
If i could find a TRUSTED receiver from USA..possibly Florida with a permit then i will buy some for me and some for the receiver as well. Else i will have to ship directly to Dominican Republic and it's quite a gamble.
-
Hi, all seeds still available except the ones marked as sold out, I also have a variety from my garden with pink /purple flesh however the flesh is not as juicy as the Coatepec ones I brought from Guatemala, price for the ones in my garden 2usd each.
(for some reason the "modify" post doesn't show anymore as option in my advertisement post so I haven't been able to include them in and take off the two weeks pause I wrote in the title long time ago
