Out of curiosity, anyone know of any early-fruiting (pre-December) loquat varieties? I'd love to grow them here in 7b, but their late fruiting habits generally make it unlikely to get successful cropping here unless I'm able to find an early variety.

Let me know If you find one. I am on the border of 7a/7b. I can fruit them in the greenhouse. The problem is I have no bees.

There are some good threads about Spring blooming loquats. Just search for them. There is good evidence of Himalayan types that Spring bloom, but I don't think they have been imported. D

I didn't see loquats in himalaya. Would you have precisions?

As I remember one of them is eryobotria elliptica? I think they grow in the Himalayan foothills. D
