Citrus General Discussion / Thornless Mexican Lime
« on: November 26, 2022, 04:32:13 PM »
I bought what I thought was a thornless Mexican lime tree, but from my understanding, the fruit should be much bigger. I get plenty of fruit each year but they are all much smaller than I expected. Has this been mislabeled? This is a recent picture so the fruit has over-ripened. Almost all the limes are barely an inch in diameter.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Low Biuret Urea

I purchased .low biuret urea (0.5% biuret) from Custom Hydro Nutrients.
https://customhydronutrients.com/

Their product is a fine water soluble perils.  Dissolve 200 grams per gallon of water add a teaspoon of surfactant and your ready to spray.

Awesome, thanks so much. What can I use as a surfactant?

I apologize if this has been answered before, I tried searching first. Where can I get a low biuret urea foliar spray? I've done a lot of searching but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do I need to buy low biuret urea and mix it myself? If so where do I find that, again this seems difficult to locate? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Appreciate the responses, I'll stick with it and try the various things you mentioned. We don't really get temps that low so hopefully as it grows out I get some fruit. My lemon and lime tree planted in almost the exact same spots flower and fruit regularly.

I would spray the foliage with low biuret urea 2 months prior to what would be the expected bloom date  This is the procedure that commercial citrus growers do each year to obtain a good flowering. I take it that the tree in question, is a grafted tree, and not one started from seed.

Where would I get low biuret urea spray. I checked Amazon and nothing comes up. I did buy urea but it's a solid fertilizer.

I don't know how to tell if it's grafted or seedling. I bought it from a local nursery. What is difference between the 2 in terms of fruit production?

Here's the tag.

I have a blood orange tree that puts out lots of new growth each year. This year already it's starting to show more growth but it doesn't look like there is any sign of flowering and therefore no fruit.

I have added fertilizer, urea, etc. It gets plenty of water and a LOT of sun throughout the year. Does this look like it will flower this year? Is there anything I can check to know if it's going to flower? What else would you do to encourage it?

Thanks for the info. That’s a relief. I thought I had damaged it somehow.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Avocado Tree Problems

Here are some pictures of my Haas Avocado Tree:

It lost a lot of leaves in early Spring. Then a bunch of what looked like the beginning of fruit appeared, however almost all of that fruit looks to have shriveled up now. New leaves are appearing, but the tree itself doesn't look great. Is this normal or should I be expecting some other begavior?

I applied Avocado fertilizer in spring and I water the tree every 3 days with a fairly deep soak. We already have weather in the 90's during the day and there's really no rain to speak of.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I’m having the same exact issue with mine. Lots of new growth this spring. Tree looks healthy but no sign of flowering.
