Attending a wedding near Cancun and have a free day, was wondering if anyone knows of any Tropical Fruit Tours or nurseries/ orchards to visit ? A willing tropical fruit forum member wanting to hang out for the day?

Unfortunately, yes the tree produced well. Yes, 12/21/21 in Southwest Florida met criteria for a  “tropical storm” (wind speeds 39-73 mph) a very common occurrence, I may add. The tree was not planted low, it has dirt on bottom from picking up and dragging away from the crime scene 😂. It actually came off and caused damage to other mango trees by rubbing against them. Unfortunately, the tree was in full bloom so any attempt to graft would be futile. I hope Santa delivered a coconut cream mango tree under the tree… my 3 year old told me I’m on Santa’s “nice list”… that’s gotta count for something.
Merry Christmas all!

Coconut Cream Mango in ground for 6 years was ripped off of at graft union (RIP) during a tropical storm 12/21/21 in Southwest Florida. Needless to say I am devastated by this event. May be best to call Geico to see if I can insure my next Coconut Cream… haha. In all seriousness has this happened to anyone else? What was your personal solution? Have the Zills found a solution to weak union or rootstock compatibility?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best tasting mango varieties
« on: September 07, 2020, 03:45:12 AM »
Hello everyone!

I am new to this forum and I am writing this thread because Ibwould love to know what are your favorite mango varieties tto eat. It is very overwhelming to see the amount of endless varieties there are to find. I grestly believe that there are things in life that we all can agree and anybody can feel the taste of an amazing mango. From my short experience, the Mexican Manila is my absolute favorite. It has the taste of a CocaCola, but even better. Like a vanilla flavor. What I'm trying to say is that your opinion will be considered and trusted 100%. I am planning on planting several mango trees and I want the best of the best in terms of taste.  Thank you very much in advance

There are so many fantastic flavors enjoyed by all, everyone is different, I suggest you try them yourself and develop your own opinions.
Coconut Cream, Fruit Punch, Sweet Tart, Venus, SugarLoaf, Phoenix, CAC, Maha Chanok , Kathy, Orange Essence ... honestly the best one is the Fresh one you’re eating at the moment. Enjoy and good luck with your planting choices

Nothing is wrong, it’s just new growth. It will darken up as it matures, no worries.

Thank You for your timely response Har!!

Would you cut off branches with black cuts/ pugg under lowest lesion? My concern being that it has penetrated the tree and potentially rot in the future...then back to square one?

Where is the best (price) place to purchase such said products (i.e., adjuvants, micro-nutrients, chelates, gypsum (in Palm Beach County?))? I have used Diamond Fertilizer (too far), and/or Big Box stores?

Hello All, have a Coconut Cream in 25 gallon pot, grown outside on concrete patio( in 25g pot stands about 8 ft tall). Soil: Peat moss, pearlite, local soil (Palm Beach Gardens) . I started noticing these black cracks or slots in the branches. Looks like a combo of Canker and Gummosis !?!? Early August I cut back branches to increase circulation and decrease bacterial/ fungal pressures. Besides copper fungicide every week for 6-10 weeks is there any advantageous adjuvant ( short of pugging the tree... if I must, so be it). The lowest non-affected portion is about 2 inches below the main crotch (branching point) of the tree.
