I have a kumquat in a pot that I have never been thrilled with.  Grows and fruits well, I just don’t like kumquats that much.  I was thinking maybe I would try my hand at grafting onto it and wanted to try limes (I have other potted lemons and oranges). We use our limes mostly for cocktails so would prioritize juicing and proliferation.  Solid lime taste also important.  Ability to keep size down also important.  I bring them into a small greenhouse during winter so hardiness not important. Any suggestions?

Do you mind me asking what kind of space heaters do you use.  I have a couple old liquid oil-type heaters that work in my greenhouse but they would give me a little concern out of doors where they might get a little wet.

I have a Meyer Lemon and Kumquat that are some 8 years old and I have only repotted once in that time period.  I pretty much use pine mulch, perlite, potting soil 1:1:1 mix.  They have always produced well but the kumquat seems to be slowing down. Lemon leaves are more yellow this year but crop is pretty good. I suspect I need to repot (ya think?!) but am not clear on when to do it.  Don’t want to shock tree with fruit.   I mid-winter ok?   I know this is slightly off topic so sorry if that is inappropriate.
