Hello! First time poster. I've read on this forum that there is a white sapote that was (is?) Sold from Excalibur that may have been called suebell but has been identified as not suebell. Looking to buy scions.

Try Marta at reallygoodplants. She described the “false suebell” as having good flavor. On the other hand regular suebell didn’t receive good rating.

“False Suebelle
The skin is not bitter. Very soft sweet melting flesh with a hint of acidity.”

For those of you that are looking for green sapote seedlings at reasonable price, an eBay seller that I had purchased from previously has them up again. They came in great shape when I previously ordered.

Interesting insight of using longer cutting to root mulberries. Wondering if there’s a reason. I’ve usually had terribble luck with mulberry but will try longer thanks!

Received giant mulchi from Abimael. Excellent quality plants, flawless packing. Thanks!!

I’ll take two giant mulchi if still left. Thanks.

Fruit looks tasty, however, if seeds too fresh, I don’t think they will germinate(requires waiting period after harvest  to fully develop). Good luck!

Received the 2 Annona montana "San Martin Pina" in excellent shape, very well packed! Not even a single leaf drop. Thanks Joe!

Mimosa nursery in LA has them for 40 dollars

I saw on their website, but doesn’t say air layer so I assumed it was a seedling. Do you know if it is an air layer? Trying to avoid the 20 year wait lol.  If air layer, $40 bucks a great deal and they ship!

What happened to the scions that you got from the person on Ebay? I got from them and have grafted trees.

Didn’t make the scorching 105 heat :-\ Great to hear you ended up buying from that person!

Looking for an air layered jamun/duhat, specifically from a fruiting tree. This has been very difficult to find for me as most I’ve come across are seedlings (or are grafted or rooted but not from a fruiting tree). Only place that has it is Papaya Tree nursery but unfortunately don’t live anywhere near LA. Thanks in advance!

Site doesn’t work. I tried checking out and says shipping not available to the address, similar to the issues others are having.

Treehousechicks, relatively new here myself, but I would have followed the type of people that sell seeds, plants here; these are veterans and so are not the instagram followers that get easily enamored with an “exotic” fruit, buy on a whim, thus you can charge high; I would stick to the Etsy crowd. I can see why people are offended at the pricing as this is more of a community. On Etsy, anything goes. Also doesn’t help that you are a “Newbie” status and making an entrance like this. Best of luck.

The version I had growing up in Bangladesh is different than the one Lara Farms is selling, which I believe is sweet( although never tasted it). The version I had is the one Sow Exotic is selling. The main difference is that it turns into a mealy consistency as it ripens versus stays crisp for Lara Farms variety I believe(like apple). Another difference is that it’s much smaller and develops sort of a musky smell when it’s ripe. It’s very common in India, Bangladesh and often people add spices (salt, chili pepper, cilantro, etc) to make a sweet/sour snack. There are people growing it in Florida within the Indian/Bangladesh community, but otherwise not available(besides what I saw on Sowexotic)

Hi Raul, do you use ga3 to germinate your illama seeds?

I used ga3 to germinate his ilama Coatepec seeds, no issues. Just be careful on the math when it comes to concentration. First batch mistakenly used 5000 ppm instead of 500 ???

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Wtb Pawpaw fruit
« on: August 26, 2022, 11:50:22 PM »
Try “Fruit 4 Sale” faceboook group. Paw Paw season just started and there are/will be people selling paw paw. Bass Samaan from Trees of Joy is a well known seller of paw paws in this group.

Nope, the Thai one is a different variety. This one is smaller, round not oblong, and mix of sweet/sour..starts out green, crisp, astringent and turns orange, sweet- sour, mealy, as it ripens. The only place I’ve seen it online is Sowexotic, however they are out of stock. Other names for this variety are “Ber” or “Boroi”.

I believe someone was selling cuttings not too long ago here. Maybe do a search and contact the seller?

Hi Kevin, I had sent a pm. Let me know if you didn’t receive it. Thanks!

I’ve been looking for this as well, very difficult to find. Plenty of Chinese varieties available, but not this variety and many often mislabel it.
