Yes irrigation has its limits the University of Michigan Missouri North Carolina and even Georgia talk about these issues extensively especially with their spring stone fruit blueberries and strawberries. There's freezes with marginal wind and freezes with significant wind. Overhead would be more appropriate for frost. You could lose a season crop and interior irrigation would be for freeze. Which could cause major damage to the tree. I think they mentioned that they are going to be able to switch from one to the other when necessary. Not using them at all if forecast dictates that. Relying on trunk rap and sand

Most of the units available for purchase seemed to  be overpowered for what I need.
At the end of my irrigation line my pressure is reduced down to 12 psi.I would like to maintain 15 to 20 psi. I really don't want to subtract from this zone or add to another Zone any sprinklers. Just curious if anyone has or can recommend a small unit. Preferably running off 110V and 1 horsepower or less

Bovine why don't you take one of those hoofers over citrus way and get some orange marmalade to put on those T-Bones

The orange groves around here use microjet sprinklers under the tree. However, tropicals need more water than that to protect them (unless you are using many microjets on each tree). If there is a light frost, microjets can warm things enough to protect the tree. If there is a hard freeze, only the parts under ice will survive (and only if you are forming enough ice to keep the temperature up). Windy conditions require more water. The more water you can put on over a broader area the better.
So there's overhead and under the tree. What is it called when the irrigation goes up into the scaffolding of the tree 3/4 the way up? Is that also called under the tree? Just want to make sure I have the proper terminology

Last week I was reading articles about the dew point and when you should turn on your overhead irrigation. I was scanning and speed reading quite a few articles a lot of articles. I'm pretty sure I saw something about under tree irrigation with micro jet misters or just microjet sprinklers. At the time I was looking for other information so I didn't take the time to really analyze that technique. Now that my curiosity has me wanting to go back and read that particular method I'm having a hard time finding that particular article. So I am interested in hearing what others have tried and what they fine actually works best for them.
I have been inspired by the recent threads on this subject. I really probably should do something different my trees are getting too large to cover. Particularly Glen but a young Valencia Pride seems to be catching up to it quickly.

At what low nighttime temperatures do you need to be concerned about mango Bloom and fruit set

Is there a rule of thumb when planting very vigorous variety. Pretty sure 20 feet is not enough

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Orange Sherbert warm winter Bloom issue
« on: January 15, 2022, 08:39:33 PM »
Has anyone observed an issue with orange sherbet bloom with the warm winter trend that seems to be the new Norm
The reason I ask is I have an orange sherbert and it has completely done a the gtowth flush instead of bloom I also have a lemon meringue of the same age under the same maintenance schedule. It has done a perfect bloom no mix whatsoever. Just want to compare notes with others hopefully this is just a fluke.

Have a opportunity to get a three gallon fruit cocktail mango tree. Does anyone have a tree that is producing and are there any fans of the fruit.

I am a back yard grower and can only find Cueva copper soap in a one gallon container which is more then i need.
Fertilome natural guard copper soap seems to have the same active ingredients 10 percent Copper Octanoate.
fertilome copper soap can be purchased by the pint. I saw a thread on this forum about mixing one Tablespoon Sulfur with Tablespoon Cueva copper soap.I would like to spayer on my late blooming mango trees. Any help would be much appreciated
