Those really red ones, and dolores seedless look awesome. Would love to graft those up! Lately I have been super impressed with long leaf guava psidium striatulum. It is the most intense guava flavor I've had and has low seed count. It's a smaller fruit than tropical guava but enough for me. Really easy grower and heavy producer.
would you know if it's more or less cold tolerant compare to P. cattleianum? ^^

3
hello, would you know their frost resistance, more or less than P. cattleianum? ^^

4
Amazing species, thanks Miguel, I wonder if is it even hardier than psidium guajava and if could it be crossed with it.
i also would like to know, is P. striatulum as frost resistant as P. cattleyana? more or less? ^^

Hello,
i would like to make some exchanges in order to comparate (in the same place to be sure witch one resists or tolerates better). in my forest, crash tests are every winter: i am 400M altitude in aix en provence, much colder than marseille (france).
i have wilma, joey, aravaipa (these 3 from graft), and others cold-hardy varieties from seedlings. but i miss the chili avocado, such as austin, and fantastic.
i also have unknown varieties from moutains, 600M in france and 1300M in spain. i gave cuttings to someone grafting inside, and sow in my place outside. first results to see next frosts...

I'm sorry you are saying those annona will grow in true temperate climates? I was, perhaps wrongly, under the impression most of those fruits listed in the temperate section were in fact tropical

I have annona senegalensis
Answer: in the precedent above

Herimola and on asimina starts, but die after a few months. The others I don't know.
I suppose the species you mention are cold hardy? How tasty?
I published yesterday my collection and wish list in the topic "cherimola scions and seeds for trade", I would like to exchange, please let me know what is pertinent in my wish list?
Cheers

Hi
They are a little bit more cold-hardy than cherimoyas. 1 or 2 of them are more cold hardy at 20f and 25f regarding what I read in forum. From Uruguay, south brazil. Did you taste yours? How is it?
You could contact me for example telegram or Whatsapp, +33 750 29 39 47
So that we could agree what to exchange
Thank you!
Cheers

I also wish temperate climate anonas: anona neosalicofolia, a. Ubatubensis, a. Cacans. Am I right they are more cold hardy than a. Cherimoya ? Do I forgett some?

12
Hi, what would you have suitable for temperate climate? I mean surviving frosts
Thank you

I mostly hope make exchange. Know varieties I could sell, such as cumbe, etc... But the exclusive varieties, those very rare nobody else have, I would like to exchange for some rare things I listed yesterday in some other topics ( main wish list in the topic "annonacees temperate", and my citation in topic "cherimoya grafting")
Why you wanted seeds of 'cumbe'? Is there some info you could share about this variety?
I have 3 fruits of cumbe (will ripe later).

Leafes identification :
Before I said Leon have very little leafe, but it was because too much sun with not enough water. 2 years after my grafts, I see leafes size depends more of exosition and irrigation. Depending on the variety, The bigger leafes are only half longer than the more little ones (in similar conditions). Not 2 or 3 times longer as I thought before.
I noticed that some varieties have rond leafes such as santa rosa, or long leafes for joy.

Fruits size:
The more remarkable is 'gladiator' new variety: I try to publicate a photo, but I think it could be much more huge with ferilisant and more water. All the trees here miss ferilisant and water. Some leafes dry.
It this finca, avocadoes are half size compared to usual. It makes me think in good cultural conditions, this cherimoya will be much bigger than on my photo
Ok, for the moment I don't understand how to add a photo this year. Maybe I will try later with a computer. The unripe fruit is at least 2 times bigger than my large hand

14
did someone succeed graft cherimoya on
Asimina triloba
Annona stenophylla
Annona neosalicifolia
Annona ubatubensis
Annona cacans
Dugetia furfuracea
...
In this case please tell how many years the association is alive, and if it grows and fruits well ;)
Could someone provide such cold_hardy species seeds?

I would like to exchange such species! Could anyone provide?
Maybe this 20F rollinia is r.sylvatica.
I would also love duguetia (phaeoclados, lanceolata, ..furfuracea..
Here is the link to a colleague's website
http://fruitforestier.info/fr/annona-cherimola-cherimoya/

Then I'll say it again but moisture plays an important role in the tree's ability to withstand negative temperatures.
There is a big difference between dry and wet cold.
And between these two extremes you can have successes or not depending on the humidity.

Phoenix dactilifera is resistant to -9°C in dry cold and can die at -4°C depending on the amount of moisture.

And between an urban city and the countryside or between an orchard located near a lake and another in the same city locate but further away from the lake there will also be differences.

Palms, cacti, citrus fruits etc several factors may or may not play a role in success.
Of course there are some confidential varieties that are proven to be tolerant to certain temperatures for a certain period of time.

In short, those who want more information can already read the 2 links that have followed.
The first for cherimoliers and the second for avocados.

https://www.greffer.net/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=3820&start=1
https://www.greffer.net/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=4477&start=1

These 2 links are those of a French forum whose members do important research on cultivars that tolerate cold.
Of course you have to read the discussions like the ones found here.

.)
Porcelia macrocarpa
Anona coriacea
Xylopia odoratissima
Guatteria carchiana
Anona rugulosa
Anona stenophylla
Annona longiflora
Polyalthya cerasoides

As well as subtropical species for my Andalusia collection, good selections of:
Rollinia delicious
Anona diversifolia
Anona salzmanii
Annona cherimoya 'selma'
Annona montana
...
Look the topic I did for my collection, some known and unique varieties maybe you would like some? Such as the hugest cherimoya I will try to publish new photos tonight, a chance. 'gladiator' :)

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: Cherimoya/Pawpaw hybrid
« on: December 11, 2021, 03:14:58 PM »
Did anyone ever tried to approach graft cherimoya and paw paw ? I am interested in this as i have some seedlings of both i would likw to wxperiment with ??
Yes, but it doesn't last long. I grafted cherimoya on asimina, it growed a few months but died quickly. Other experienced the same. But an hybrid will probably be more compatible

I would love to sow or graft and root such an hybrid. Then compare its cold hardyness in my temperate climate spain and france to know the frost limit.
I could also share unique varieties, look the topic I did about my collection.
I'm crazy of cherimoyas, it,s my main food...
Thank you so much for this awesome réalisation
