Can anyone tell me what these things are around my kumquat tree hole. They were not here last night. I check my citrus 2 times a day. https://youtu.be/IxAbGtaTGnk
How much oxygen does my 30 gallon 6 foot tall by 3 foot diameter Fukushu kumquat tree on C35 roots need compared to my pet mouse. I was arguing that my pet mouse needs much more oxygen than my large Fukushu Kumquat tree. Are there any charts on how much oxygen tree roots need to thrive. As breathable as my 5-3-1 soil is it doesn't inhale and exhale as we do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29JVzXazs7g
I have a New Zealand lemonade tree on C35 and a Valentine Pomelo on US897. The US897 started wilting first so I picked its fruit and about a month later the NZL started wilting. I started picking its fruit over the last month. Now 6 weeks into the wilting. None of the fruits or flowers froze so the lowest temperature my have dipped a little below freezing. Any ideas of cause and is this tree a goner
I was looking at making freezer marmalade and I was planning to boil it down to a viscus state at a temperature of 176F. This lower temperature greatly reduces the heat destruction of the fruit. The end product has to be frozen instead of canned because the 36F lower temperature will not adequately destroy pathogens. To get my water to boil at 176F I would have to set my canning operation at 24,000 feet above sea level or set up a vacuum pump that would pull 6.87 psi of vacuum. The boiling rate would have to be closely monitored to not over run the vacuum pump. Heat input would have to meet the motor power to pull and maintain the appropriate vacuum needed. I think that the 24,000 foot elevation is unattainable. Has anyone here ever use a vacuum pump hooked up to an "anti-presure" cooker to control cooking temperature for making marmalade.
My first 3 Fukushu kumquats from my outside in ground seed grown kumquat tree. The smallest fruit had no pulp and was sweet with a slight bitter after taste. The next size up has a sweet peel with no aftertaste and a slightly sour pulp. My wife will have to report on the large one after eating.
Can anyone tell my why my leaves are so yellow. This is a 5 month old Fukushu kumquat tree on Flying dragon. My 15 month old Fukushu on Flying dragon shows no Issues. Both trees are in the same soil and fed with Jacks 25-5-15. PH around7
Just brought my Seed grown New Zealand lemonade tree inside So far it has seen 22F, 22F, 20F, 25F, and many hard frosts. to date. I am warming the roots up to hibernation temperatures for that of an in ground tree so I can put it back outside for the up coming 17F, 13F to determine cold hardiness of this cultivar 01-02-2022
It is now down in an unheated basement to prevent coming out of dormancy. It has seen 2 months with most nights below freezing.
Before and after a repot of my Fukushu kumquat tree on Flying dragon. The top part is 14.5 months old since the T-Bud started growing and the FD roots will be 3 years old 1-1-22. I guess the big question is If the roots are Flying Dragon and the top is Fukushu and I were to trim the top and transplant the roots Am I trimming a Fukushu while transplanting a Flying dragon.
I have grafted a poncirus trifoliata onto Seville sour orange & then grafted Fukushu kumquat onto the PT The New Zealand Lemonade on the buckets is supposed to be Fukushu kumquat.
