I have seen many large producing mangos in winter springs, Oviedo, Sanford. Everytime i asked about variety i was told it was from a seed. Luck or something else, but my coconut cream and pickering died on me....

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Tomatoes in FL
« on: September 04, 2023, 08:26:01 PM »
I grow all types of tomatoes twice a year. Timing is everything. In my zone they have to be planted  by March and September 1st. I would think Miami area should be a month ahead of us. I grow in full sun and in pots. They all do good and produce a lot before they decline because of summer or winter.

I have a one flowering butterscotch and it set a fruit.

4
Young trees, or stressed or lack of water could be a reason for fruit drop.

Female!

6
I have a thai dwarf from fruitscapes and first impression was: it's sour.
However, later i noticed fruit get sweet with high heat and ripening longer on the tree.

Tropical Vegetables and Other Edibles / Re: Squash identification

It was not sweet and not deep orange color. Since i didn't grow any zucchinis or pumpkins other than seminole, that hybrid was probably brought by  squirrels or birds . Neighbors don't have veggies growing.
I plant its seeds. I will grow anything that survives Florida heat and rain.

I have seen them fruiting in central Florida, but their owners didn't know the variety name. Just bought them and got lucky. I had a large tree blooming every year and not a singe fruit set.

Last year i grew seminole pumpkin which does not look like this one. Then these stated showing i thought squirrels replanted my seminole.
Just tried it. Its more like calabaza. Not as sweet and orange like Seminole.

Some sources say that seedless che gives fruit without male but usually drops fruit untill tree matures
If male is present, seedless fruits earlier but with seeds.

I love my unknown Che from fruitwood.com. I grafted male and female on Osage and it was fruiting the first year. This is a 3rd year and i cross grafted them so each had both genders. I also has norris and darrow, but they didn't fruit yet.
Che tasted great. I am keeping it.

My white sapote redlands was struggling with sun while in a pot. This year i planted it in ground, it was not looking good on the sun for a few months but started growing like crazy now.

I have a few 3 gal butterscotch sapodilla trees for $100 each. Healthy, one was blooming, but might drop the fruit due to young age. Were purchased from zills nursery.
Local pick up only in north Orlando area.
Pm for questions and pics.

I have super hass next to bacon avocado. The same age the same compact looking trees. Bacon is more dense than super hass. Both trees were last spring in 3gal, now in 15 gal. Super hass has at least 15 fruit hanging. Bacon did not set any.

I am underwhelmed by jaboticabas, too.  The flesh is good but the clingy seed and thick skin makes it hard to eat them.  They are so nice looking I will definitely keep one, but I see no reason to collect more.

I was having the same thoughts about jabos and wondering why nobody mentioned it. Clingy seed makes it impossible to enjoy the fruit. Especially if you want to save the  seed.

His website is up and people, that are not reading our forum, are still buying from him. Crazy.
