Cara cara is not to my knowledge a blood orange. My inground cara cara in Beaumont texas never had the orange flesh in the fruit. In September before any cold weather the flesh was red. The color is the main reason I grew cara cara. Standard navel oranges never get a very good color in SE Texas, even with cold weather. I suspect your cara cara was mislabeled and is some common unknown strain of navel orange.
Yes, Cara Cara is Red Navel. I bought it for it's color and sweet taste. I believe it was Floydcitrus nursery. And I think it was mislabeled. Well, need to buy real Cara Cara for sure. Thanks to all of you for the comments.

Californiatropicals WOW, thank you for sharing all these pics. Amazing!!! I am trying to create some kinda tropical oasis on my patio in containers though.  :D I may post my pics too. But anyway, you have a nice backyard. All the plants look wonderful. Good job you've done. Is that red leaves guava aka Malaysian guava? Nice looking fruit too. Please, don't eat all it's seeds.  ;D I'd like to have some. Or maybe cuttings.  :D I also have tried to grow Panache but unfortunately the plant I got appeared something else but not Panache. So I am planning to give it another chance and buy new one when it's available. I also like your Tapioca tree.

bsbullie, how big they are? I don't want to buy a big and expansive plant. They grove fast. So I am looking for a small plant but healthy. Too bad Excalibur is far away from me I would go and see what they got. I am planning to visit them as soon as I can. And they don't ship. :(

Brian, here is my moro blood. It fell of the tree when I was trying to put cover over for the last cold night. I think it wasn't ripe yet but also it may not be like yours when it's fully ripe.

Millet, that's what I thought about the color in Cara Cara. I have a regular Navel. Is Washington Navel the same as just Navel?

Yes, I know about Blood orange. I have Moro Blood and it has just red veins inside. Never heard the same about Red Navel (Cara Cara) though.

Citrus General Discussion / Red Navel

I love Red Navel. A few year ago I bought the tree and finally got the first fruit from it. And guess what... it's not red inside!  >:( It's very tasty, sweet and juicy but not red. Now I wonder what is it? Anybody can help me to identify the fruit? Here it is on a picture on the left. Next to it is regular Navel.

Wow. I got a Giant Finger from Brightleaf. Wish I could find Red.

do all variegated tree have variegated fruit ????
that need looking  ;D ;D ;D

From what I have seen (var. pink lemon, centenniel kumquat, var. minneola, var. red navel (aka var. cara cara)), yes.
I love the Cara Cara and would be happy to have variegated one. I have seen non-varigated leaves minneola but variegated fruit. The tree was big and expansive at Lowe's. I should talk to their manager and find out which nursery sells citrus trees through them.

Thanks for the link but I am sure they don't send citrus trees to FL. I think Harris doesn't have var. calamondin too. I'll keep looking locally. :) Here is my minneola.

This is what I did. I may do something else to make it work. I was thinking to add one more tomato cage but upside down and bend the legs in shape of umbrella. Not sure though.

Can't find any at Lowe's/HD. I even ordered it from them but they never got it I think. They said they will give me a call. Never heard from them.  :(  Bought variegated minneola on sale last year. Have 5 fruits on it now.

Looks delicious.

Is that a Lowes/Home Depot tree?  Looks like it from the tag.   Mine have been very healthy.

Yes, it is Lowe's. And it fruited the same year I got it. Which was nice. But it doesn't say on the tag what kind of satsuma.

This is my Satsuma. Fruits are pretty big. It's probably not Owari. I am going to taste one soon. A couple of them are ready.

Where can I buy the variegated calamondin in Fl? I have two variegated centenial kamquat trees and I am very happy with them. I eat them from the hand with the rind...very tasty to me. But I let them get yellow. Just bought Meiva. Fruits are not ripe yet. Can't wait to try. Thinking about Nagami too but not sure should I buy it or not.

Hi, I am from Central FL. Crazy container grower.  ;D Started with couple of plants a few years ago and now... it's too many but not enough...  ::) Citrus trees, pineapples - must have... guavas and others... I am trying to grow some tropical plants in my area. Wish I lived somewhere in South FL. :-)
