Forum member JF has a lot of good varieties.
You should get some from him.

I have Calostra growing down here.
Plan to add a few varieties to my other plants as well.

Australian is a variety that is being grafted by Fruitscapes. Steve got the budwood from someone out in California and the original genetics came from Australia. 99% of the atemoyas I have seen in Florida are Gefner. I have a small fruit forming on mine now but it is being somewhat neglected in a 7 gal pot so I don't know if it will ripen properly. I can only speculate on the real name of it.

I have one now but it hasn't fruited.

It is not a geffner for sure because she has a geffner for sale.

Fruitscapes have Tim and Australia. I think the budwood came from the same person. Two separate varieties.

Nah, it is a different cultivar being called Australia here. Steve said that it is a cultivar from Australia that he received from a grower in California. Tim and Australia are two different varieties being propagated by Fruitscapes. I think both came from "Tim" in California but I could be wrong about that.

I bought every atemoya Steve was growing this year and there wasnt one called Australian. He said Tim was a Australian atemoya.
Anyway I just text him to make sure and he said it's the same.

Good to know. He told me they were different when I was there a few weeks ago. He told me you could tell by the leaf texture. I had heard like 6 months back that they were the same though. I have small fruit on both of mine so I will check to see if there is any difference or see how they come along. After I heard they were the same I stupidly repotted without labeling so I don't know which one was which originally.

I took some pictures and did some sleuthing. I have been meaning to figure this out. :)

Here is a picture that I stole from The Dom on Facebook of Tim.

Here are my trees.

Tree #1 Australia

Tree #2 - Tim

I can tell you 100% with certainty that I bought an Atemoya tree labeled Tim and an Atemoya tree labeled Australia from Fruitscapes about a year ago and Steve Cucura told me that they were different varieties during my last visit about a month ago.

All i know is Treasure of the tropics is located in florida and she sells all her trees on ebay at very reasonible price and she can ship all over continental us.  She called it an australian but it may be an african pride.

Treasure of the tropics is also Top tropicals. They get  trees from Fruitscapes.
They also graft some of their own trees.  Chances are you have a Tim which was supposed to
be a superior variety from Australia?

Treasures of the tropics is not top tropicals. My understanding was she used to work there but now started her own business with a partner.

It’s a African Pride.

She got back to me and it is african pride.  Smh.  I wonder why she tells me it is an australian when it is an african pride.  O well.  She already got it qurantine and ready to ship to me on monday.  It is still a cheap tree.  I will have to gift this tree to my parents.

But i got some nice mango trees from her for cheap.

A proper pinks mammoth, Paxton prolific or Hillary white or even Maroochy gold is what you need to get going over there. PP (KJ Pinks) in particular would be a winner.

Nice, hopefully my grafts take and I'll have increased my atemoya diversity by like 7 folds.
