grafting tape removal

The buds should push through the tape... Sometimes I get impatient and unwrap the tape and have the graft die.

What kind of grafting tape are you using? If it's something thin like Buddy Tape, buds can easily push right through. I used to worry about removing it as soon as the graft takes, but I've accidentally ruined some buds by trying to remove the tape. And I was trying to be extra gentle. So I'm a lot more patient these days and just leave the tape alone.

If you're using parafilm or buddy tape, don't remove it, period!
The buds will easily push through. This is how it's supposed to work.

Parafilm will degrade over time and doesn't necessarily ever have to be manually removed.
However, by the next year I normally remove any that is left.
