I have a follow up question for you. How do nursery propagate rootstocks, is it always from seeds or can the rootstock be grown from cuttings ?

I guess they grow seedling rootstocks ,which they later graft onto. Seems like this method of propagation ,when used on persimmon will not work. Now I have only a month of summer left, but in spring I will make a small number of air layers on them plants, as a experiment.
