Achachairu quinta in Bolivia

Visiting family and friends in Bolivia. We were able to tour the quinta Guttierrez in Porongo, not far from Santa Cruz. This appears to be the original location for Achacha. It is growing every where in this area. I do not understand why it is so wide spread here. I did not see any animals consuming the fruit.

Nice! Lucky you got to visit there. Isn't it widespread because it is cultivated? Or are you implying that it grows wild there? Isn't it a quinta, a farm, where it's been planted?

The primary seed dispersers for many fruit trees are long extinct and some are recently extinct. The slow rate of change for many fruit trees and and animal population dynamics can make it hard to work out why plants are in specific locations and what animals currently are or were the main seed dispersers.

It is very wide spread in the area even where not cultivated. But I imagine humans are the seed spreaders not that the giant sloths and other megafauna are extinct.
