This calycina barely made fruit last year. This year feels different.

Your plant looks so healthy!  Hope you get an abundant harvest!  Mine is still young, I look forward to tasting the fruit.

For me, along with cherry of the rio grande, it is one of the best performers for my 9b climate. It doesn't even blink. Takes dry, or soaked equally well. This one was a machine, went from a plug to 1g, to 3g, to 5g, to 15g, to 25g in just 3 years. I'm always hammering the top down to keep it reasonably sized.

Nice to hear they grow vigorously and fruit quickly.  I got my plants from member Kevin Jones.  What do you think of the taste?  I haven’t tried a cherry of the rio grande yet either, but hopefully this year.

No lie. I'm super jealous. I might have to switch zones. You willing to adopt a lightly used, middle aged,  tropical plant enthusiast? ;D

They're mild flavored and agreeable. I can't say they're pitanga "richness" but I gladly snack on them when they're around. CORG has been in my experience a bit fatter and the calycina is longer and slender - I had some really sweet calycinas when I visited Wildlands Nursery in Santa Cruz.

I haven't found many eugenias I don't like - just myrcianthes with the garlic tones.

Kevin,  the grafted Garnet I got from you is doing well and already blooming.  I’m glad I got my orders of plants from you before you stopped shipping to California, but I missed the opportunity to get your crimson tide surinam.

Hi Janet,
Glad you got one too... and I'm really pleased it's blooming for you.
Good Luck!

Miracle Grow at standard strength. Full sun.
Those photos are from a couple of years ago.
Walked out to my greenhouse this morning... and they are just now starting to show signs of budding-up again.

I always assumed you were ahead of me in climate, Kevin - I guess not! My calycina is in the greenhouse that said, do yours live outside?

Greenhouse as well.
I run a pretty cool greenhouse though... no heat unless there is a predicted freeze.
Cooler Winter temps may effect blooming ???
On a side note... Last Summer I planted a couple of hedge rows with standard run-of-the-mill seedling CORGs.
They have easily survived my Winter lows of the mid 20s so far with little Zone 8 frost damage.
Looking for a hardy plant with great fruit characteristics.
