Hi Tiff,

Which variety has the biggest and crunchy that can eat it fresh?  Eat like an apple.  I am interesting to root the cuttings.

Thanks,
Al

Hi Al,

The crunchy and biggest one is the Thornless Green. Contorted jujube is very crunchy and sweet but small. Al varieties variety can be eaten raw, except Lang. The flesh of Lang has a drier character.

I think it is really hard to root jujube cuttings.

Thanks,
Tiffany

I don't think you can graft the Thornless Green to the Chinese Jujubes. The reason is the Thornless does not go dormant as the Chinese ones do. The thornless would need rootstock that grows year round.

Hi Mark,

You are right. My Thornless Green Jujube was from Taiwan and its scientific name is Ziziphus mauritiana. The other jujube such as Li, Lang, Contorted, Sugar Cane, Honey Jar, GA 866…are Ziziphus jujuba. We can’t graft Ziziphus mauritiana to Ziziphus jujuba and vice versa.
Thanks.

Hi all,

Maybe Thornless Green jujube is the one I am looking for a while. I don't have any rootstock for it.  Is there anyone able to propagate Thornless Green Jujube successfully?

Thanks,
Al

I think the only way I know is to air layer it. But that is very difficult to do with the Thornless green. If you can buy one from a nursery that would be the way to get one that fruits soon.
