Should I top my Ice Cream Bean?
« on: August 25, 2022, 07:16:13 PM »
Hey everyone! Proud owner of a 6 foot Ice Cream Bean tree which I bring in during winter. My issue is that it is only growing a few leaves and growing directly upwards, and getting too tall for my grow lights. If I top it, will it branch out more or just stop growing? Suggestions?

I haven't met a plant that doesn't grow again after topping, it just tends to be wider and shoot out. Sometimes it doesn't grow a new leader. If you're going to keep this long term indoors, 6'8" is the height of a door and it'd be annoying to have it much larger than that.

Good to know, thank you! I'll go ahead and give it a try.
