Split atemoya fruit while on tree.
« on: November 16, 2022, 09:05:12 PM »
I didn't want any insect to get in, so I picked it and will leave on counter to ripen. Should I keep it inside a ziplock bag so it won't dessicate?
Thanks,

My experience has been that it is better to leave it open to the air. The split part sort of heals over. In Florida humidity the wound rots if it gets sealed up.

What caused the splitting? I just cut another one off the tree, some small cracks have developed.
Thanks,

Prevent spliting by regular water in term of frequency and quantity.

Some varieties prone to splitting in the cold.
