WTB: Uncommon Pineapple Cultivars
« on: July 14, 2024, 06:23:00 PM »
Hi all,

I have a few md2, white jade, Hawaiian sugarloaf, and Mark dellerman hybrids. I'm looking for literally anything different. Anything like Josapines, queens, those Malaysian ones, wild ones, whatever you got. Only thing I'm not interested in is those red ornamental pineapples.

Thanks in advance

I just got some slips(Natal Queen, Spanish Red, Florida Racer, Coco Delicious,Kona White) from Jonathan at Tefoe. He had a bunch of other interesting varieties available as well. His email is t.flfarms@yahoo.com he also has a youtube channel that he shows a lot of the stuff he has growing.

The variety he calls Coco Delicious appears to be the USDA Accession HANA 169: https://www.ars.usda.gov/pacific-west-area/hilo-hi/daniel-k-inouye-us-pacific-basin-agricultural-research-center/tropical-plant-genetic-resources-and-disease-research/docs/pineapple-collection/

Based on the following study, HANA 169 may be very similar or the same as HANA 51: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4660223/

What do you all think about someone giving a name to a pineapple from the USDA collection?
