u sure a pole saw is a good choice for a hedge? The only time you'd need a saw would be if you let it get overgrown.
I'd think that the best tool for the job would be an articulating, shafted hedge trimmer like the Shindaiwa AH242. I have the AHS242 (a bit shorter), and it's been great for my hedge that I keep around 8 foot tall. With the AH242 and a small ladder, you should be able to knock it out.
