Eugenia Patrissi

I have a slow slow growing Eugenia patrissi that I started from seed bought from Tradewinds a year and a half ago. Is there a way to tell if this is the “true patrissi”?

I've heard the true patrisii has somewhat bullate leaves like Eugenia stipitata.

I have the real one and the fake one.  I can post pictures tomorrow to compare.  They do look different

On the left is true patrissi, or it should be, as the seeds came directly from Columbo on our forum, from French Guyana.
On the right is "aff patrissi" or "red", I forget where I got these.

Hello Brian, has the true patrissi fruited for you yet?
I'm quite curious.

Not yet.  It flowered this spring for the first time but didn't set fruit.  Maybe next year

That looks more like the "fake" one to me, but I can't be certain.

I have both. The real deal is denser with leaves closer together. Patrisi is variable as you would expect with such a big distribution

No, the fake one hasn't fruited yet either.  I'll post some pictures when they do

 i got my first fruit from one of my seedlings. These came from Richard in French Guiana. I have a regular type and one he calls 'Top Ubaia'. All my seedlings have started flowering but only one put out a single fruit. pleasant taste but just had a brix of 11. hopefully improves with time and maybe some of the others are more variable. They really seems to like part-shade when young.

My real one came from Richard I think. Eugenia sp. Venezuela for the other maybe.

Here's another "aff Patrissi" I have that looks totally different from the aff Patrissi I posted earlier.  Not worth spending much time worrying about unless the fruit turns out to be very good.
