There are a bunch of asimina parvifloras that I have been keeping an eye on. They are a smaller fruited pawpaw species. But I have no experience judging by skin color on when to harvest..? The fruit are just turning from green to very slightly off-green. Can I harvest in this stage and ripen the fruit? Will thy even ripen like this after being off the tree? I want to get them before the wild creatures do!

What is this variety? They are labeled "sweet orange".
They either have sour orange in them, by the thorns.. or maybe have trifoliate, since I did see a single bi-leaf on one of the trees.
Either way they must be a rootstock hybrid? None are grafted or labeled as grafted.. the black mark on the trunk was just where tape was (not a graft).
I hope they are not just a sour orange variety mislabeled!

The title says it. I am looking to buy a bulk order of fresh palm seeds that will have a good germination rate. I don't mind if there's still pulp on the seeds but if it makes it cheaper to ship cleaned than that is alright.. I just want the best success rate possible.

I came across this hybrid in a market labeled as 'orange lemon'. The rind smell, color and top bell shape seem like minneola (hard to see the bell) and the bottom point and size and fruit taste is definitely Meyer lemon. This is a hardy hybrid. I haven't seen the tree but it is local and it has gotten frosty in the teens in recent years.. the crop was a decent amount. Basically a Meyer lemon with orange color rind. I don't like Meyers that much but am curious what these F3 seeds will produce, hopefully pollinated by something other than a lemon!

Is the cause of this high humidity and rainfall or something else?


After a couple months

There are several native species I want to collect for different purposes (blueberries, wax myrtle, sparkleberries, paw paws, Am. persimmons, red mulberries, quince, Chickasaw plums, etc but there are a lot of wildlife preserves and lots that I’m not going  to trespass or take from, so are there any specific places that are open to foraging/digging up native species or is it all illegal?!

Got a very young orange or tangerine seedling, about 3-4 inches tall, with a bloom about to open up. Somewhere between the age of 12-20 months.. was semi-neglected (grown in mostly sand and rarely fertilized..). Will post a picture later. Anyone else encountered this in citrus? (I assume this phenomenon could be more common in lemons and limes, how about the rest of citrus?)

I call it the 'Florida Condition'.. it affects what seems like mostly temperate fruit trees.. even varieties that seem as though they're getting the right chill hours and such..

stagnate more

and eventually succumb.. maybe fully.. without ever achieving a true adult tree size and won't produce much if anything at all.

Many times it affects stonefruits.. For example, methley plums, some older Georgia peach cultivars, flowering cherries. Some types of roses, blueberries, even pears. Seen it happen to crape myrtles too! Even wild persimmons!

I understand neglect may have something to do with it, but a lot of these trees are grafted onto hardy rootstocks, right? Is it the extreme heat and humidity during summer that does em in, or what??

If mandarin s.. sorry “manderin s” is presumably satsuma than what is manderin F?
According to these people’s satsuma tags they’re not even hardy under 32 degrees.



I cannot think of any mandarin or tangerine that starts with f? There are actually quite a few of these grafted trees around town labeled mandarin f and s

Does anybody grow Luma or other related species in the US? It is similar to Surinam cherry and that group

Is it possible to root Valencia orange from cuttings easily? I have a ton of branches somebody hacked down, and I can’t tell if it’s from a Valencia or sour orange (the fruit tastes like possibly a good sour or crappy Valencia...?? I reallly am having trouble telling..) but either way I’m going to try and propagate them all in fresh perlite..any suggestions welcomed! Thanks

Is this present in all annonas and which species contain the least amount?

Is anybody willing to sell seeds of Brazilian and Argentine varieties of Rollina and Annonas (salicifolia, parviflora, neosalicifolia, ubatubensis, emarginata, sylvatica, etc, that can handle frosts <4C (down to -8C)?? Thank you and best regards
