toxicity cherimoya seeds?
« on: May 15, 2022, 01:00:48 PM »
I know cherimoya seeds aren't supposed to be consumed. I accidentally just swallowed a small one (this particular fruit had so many seeds in it).  Should I call poison control, induce vomiting, or think one is okay?

A dude told me once he blended up soursop flesh with the seeds in it and drank it and he was fine. I wouldn't do it intentionally but doesn't seem that dangerous. I'm assuming similar toxicity.

I hope people understand that giving advice to such questions could make them liable and opened up to lawsuits.

This is not a medical advice.  Take it at your own risk.

The seed is toxic.  There were studies that use the seeds to kill cancer cells.

Cherimoya seed takes a few weeks to bud out.  Food you eat will take a day or two to come out.  For a day or two, I don't think the seed will grow and poison you.  Just like watermelon seeds, I think it should come out whole, not digested.  I don't think one seed is potent enough to do any serious harm.

What if it stuck in your appendix? That I don't know.

maybe you can fish out the seed and plant it to see if digestion helps with germination

here in Mexico people do Guanábana juice by adding water and sugar in the blender then just strain it and add ice is delicious, the seeds don't brake easily, same thing when accidentally eating it, will go out in one piece, to be poison need to get a handful and Chew on them..

Yes, I remember that from Mexico. Looking at the "input" I was wondering, how is he going to get rid of the seeds???? They did not get ground lol.
