Hello friends. I have a lychee tree and I noticed there are white spots all over on some of the branches. Can you please let me know exactly what is that and how can i get rid of it? I thank you so much. jp

https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/MG005#:~:text=Scale%20insects%20are%20a%20diverse,%3B%20Hamon%20and%20Williams%201984).

Usually they attack trees that are culturally weak and stressed, so likely there is some deficiency in the way the tree has been cared for. That would be something to work on ASAP. Usually ants are involved they "farm" scale insects and protect them to harvest secretions from the scale. It may help to reduce ants around the tree so that natural predators can control the scale. Sprays like horticultural oil can help but only use in cool weather at evening follow label directions carefully. Some can be eliminated by a strong water hose if the tree is small, but they breed very fast. Read the link above.

It doesn't look like a lychee.  Atemoya maybe?  Try shooting the bugs off with the hose everyday.

Those look more like Mealy Bugs to me. Fluffy white cottony things that squish with red splats. Try removing one, if its easy and they squish in the process they are mealy bugs if its hard to remove and they are brittle than its scale. Like Spaugh says you can blast them off to get rid of most of them. Spray afterwards with any type of insecticide or if you are organic you can use those Neem oil or soap or dilute alcohol recipes to kill the rest. Make sure to get rid of cottony fluff you see, those are eggs

That is exactly what I did with mealy bugs on my papaya. Flushed Them with a hose. Never came back.

I don't see any ants. I have cut the affected small branch before but I keep seeing on a new branch.

Put latex gloves on.
Crush the pests.
Spray carcasses off.

It’s cottony cushion. Spray horticultural oil made up of 98% mineral oil. Don’t use neem oil.

That doesn’t look like a lychee. It looks a bit more like my atemoyas.
Cheers!
