I think it's cool growing stuff that won't ever fruit, but I'd rather grow stuff that will fruit with enough time and care. So I've strayed away from ultra tropicals like these. But it's up to person to person...Just would rather put more time into mangoes and others that have and will fruit in my greenhouse. Not trying to discourage anyone out there trying to grow something like this! There are still a few ultra tropicals that have my eye like salak and rambutan!

I have over 70 species of tropical trees and plants in my greenhouse, and the majority will never fruit. But when I am out there on a snowy morning with my steaming cup of coffee, with my little birds chirping, the foggers running, and the smell of orange blossoms in the air, it just doesn't matter.

Growing stuff that never flowers or fruits but is alive and a part of the energy in the garden is different in my mind than starting seeds that will certainly die. It is still wasted space , in a sense, but If you have the space and energy to put towards that process and you feel you gain something, that痴 all that matters. But please send it out of this country so it can have a chance at life.
