Can hear I am missing out on a great fruit experience. I do have both a white and red type of Annona diversifolia (thanks to Luc), but not the famous Red and White Genova, so whoever have seeds now or in the future, please sign me up on the list for seeds of either or both cultivar. Will as usual offer rare Africa fruit species in return.

This is a showy medium size and very drought resistant African tree, which at times can reach 20m or more. The deep taproot allows it to survive even with less than 400 mm annual rain but it will not be bothered by a much higher rainfall. It grows from Senegal into southern Sudan, including Uganda where these seeds were collected from wild populations.
It has been introduced to many of the Caribbean islands.

It was previously mislabeled as Inga biglobosa, and the pulp between the seeds is sweet and tasty, but more important it is categorized as a multipurpose tree where the seeds are fermented to make a tasty "foodball", so high in protein it can replace meat.

See http://www-public.jcu.edu.au/discovernature/plants_t/JCUPRD1_069352 for some photos of the flowers and tree.

I have enough seeds for anyone who is interested in exchange of seeds.

At times I get lucky and find a seed source without going into the forests or local markets. Today I passed National Tree Seed Centre of NFA near Kampala and found fresh seeds of Desert date (Balanites aegyptiaca), a species highly recommended in the book; Lost Crops of Africa: Volume III: Fruits (see http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=11879&page=22).
Will post pictures when they start to germinate. I have never had a chance to taste to taste it, but I guess in 5-8 years I can update you on that  :D

The longest seeds were 3½ cm. All collected from wild populations in northern Uganda.

This afternoon I got confirmation from my friend and fellow fruit collector Francis, that the Giant Yellow Mulberry season has begone and that he already have collected some seeds for me. I am planning to go there tomorrow and get them, and will therefore be able to exchange seeds with members of the forum who are interested in this rarely cultivated species from East Africa.
I already have a list of people, and will only have a limited number of seeds for exchange; so priority will be given to people I already have traded with (or have mailed me seeds). The seeds are viable for a month and will be mailed this week.

The tree is a dioecious tropical species with sweet fruits, and thrives near water.

Try the horned melon (Cucumis metuliferus) - that is one very tasteless fruit.

I could use some help identify this Annona sp. from South-america. I believe it could be Annona cacans, but are not sure.

Bark, leaves and fruit in the center. The tree is easily vegetative propagated from root suckers.
