These things are great.  Seeded Nagami is obsolete.

Brian, you have some good looking fruit their. I also have a Nordmann Seedless Kumquat tree.  The fruit is a real treat to eat, and I recommend the tree to everyone - love it. The Nordmann Seedless's history is quite fascinating, as are the people that discovered it.  You can read it in the link below. - Millet

"two partially or mostly seedless varieties have been developed and propagated in Texas, ‘Seedless Nameiwa’ and ‘Nameiwa #1"

Stewart Nagle(RIP) crossed one of these. These two are inferior to nordmann seedless. I have tried both and used to have one in a pot. They have much more sour juice. I got my first nordmann seedless crop this year on the tree I planted in the ground two years ago. I like them. A friend who has had one in the ground in Matagorda, TX for a long time complains the flavor is weak.

Why not cross Nordmann Seedless with Meiwa and/or Fukushu?

one part is seedless the other forms nucellar seeds, not a good prospect. But trial and error will show if it works out

Is there any difference to the taste? My kids and I do not mind the 1-2 seeds in the fruit. We already get too much fruit off a container grown 3' tree. Now, if there's an improvement over taste, might be interested to topwork...

Millet, the site link is broken.

The updated Citrus Variety Collection URL is https://citrusvariety.ucr.edu/crc4070. I don't know why they don't fix their web server to accept www.citrusvariety.ucr.edu as well as citrusvariety.ucr.edu, it's about 10 seconds of work and would fix hundreds of links around the Internet.

They taste identical to me.  I see zero reason to grow plain seeded Nagami unless you are using it as a breeding parent.

Makes sense. For me,  it's because I already have a 12 year old tree that's seeded  :). Somehow it's still alive even after long periods of neglect in the same pot for the last 8 years.

Great to know about this variety though!

Yup!  I wouldn't rip up a perfectly good tree if you're happy with it, I just mean for anybody starting new Nordmann is the way to go.

Why would some one chose a Nordman over a Meiwa, Fukushu, or Marumi

Some of us like the ultra tart with sweet skin. Becomes addicting. I still enjoy Meiwa, but completely different.

I ate Nordmann Seedless the second time and it is not only larger but also sweeter and less sour compared to Nagami.

How does Nordman compare to Marumi.

It is a bit more sour, slightly astringent, but seedless.  Being totally seedless is a big win for me, you can eat handfuls of them.
