I got my Siam Jumbo Mulberry plant today.  It was very well wrapped, and the tree looks good.
Thanks Kevin!

Kevin,
Thanks for the scions I received today.  They are in great shape, and thanks for the extras.  First time buying from Kevin, and I highly recommend.

I'm also interested in the 2 types of Himalayan scions for grafting.  Could I buy that bundle for $25 too?
Thanks.

Thanks very much Frank!  I just got my shipment in today.  Great communication and extras!  I'll definitely be ordering more in the spring.

I have Alano and Molix, right next to each other in large 30 gallon containers, and each with a few fruit growing on them.  I used to have ants on the trees, but I have used Tanglefoot.

Joe,
This is Alan.  I met and had a good long talk with you at that exchange in Cerritos a couple months ago.  Anyway, I think this is a fantastic experiment you did with a great video too.  You went all out and found some really interesting results in just one year.  We really need to have more people try these experiments, even if on a much smaller scale than what you did, but document and share the results with everybody.  One of the many things I'm currently trying, and is somewhat the opposite of what you did--I'm trying to figure out which pawpaws grow/fruit the best in SoCal in zone 10b.  I hope you have great success in Hawaii too!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: First Canistel fruit, maybe a favorite

I live right next to the coast in Orange County.  My ross sapote tree is fruiting really well with about 20+ fruits on the tree, first time fruiting--looking forward to trying them.  I was wondering about the pruning time too, but I assume the same info for canistel applies to the ross sapote.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Everything looks really good!  I was wondering, about how many years did it take for your seedling green sapote to flower?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Growing fruit trees in fabric pots
« on: November 17, 2016, 12:09:10 PM »
I have a number of white sapotes planted in what are called geopots.  I think these are higher quality than many of the others.  Anyway, they work for me in 30 gallon containers.  In terms of white sapote, the best way to handle them in a fabric container is to have an airlayered white sapote.  This will alleviate the typical problem of the long tap root that a white sapote has.  If you can't do airlayered, then pick white sapotes that are generally dwarf, smaller, in size.  For example, rainbow and suebelle work well in containers.

A really good market for rare fruit with very good quality (pricey nonetheless) is Trai Cay Ngon in Westminster (right near the LA/OC border).  They have the biggest selection on a regular basis that I have seen in the area.

How do the ilamas (annona rosada) you are talking about compare to the red genova ilamas (annona diversifolia)?

Yes, I've thought that for awhile that right near the coast in Orange County really is zone 11, and not 10b.  Great to hear the Achachairus is fruiting in this region!
