Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Langsat Questions
« Last post by LangsatFL on Today at 01:47:12 PM »
Langsat has more cold tolerance than longkong, duku or duku langsat. Paete and Utteraditt varieties might be worth a shot in Florida.

Mike T, the “Uttaradit” Langsat was fruited many times by Bill Whitman according to his book and people that saw the tree in person that I have talked to. He also fruited the “Conception” Langsat too, and as a matter of fact, I have heard from a guy that went to the property recently that the original Conception tree is alive still.  Bill’s estate is in a gated neighborhood in Bal Harbour, and is off limits to the public.  Interestingly, in his book Bill says that the Uttaradit tree had a very long season from August-April.  Unfortunately, his tree died after her removed a tree that was casting shade on the Uttaradit and it got severe sunburn.  I would love to grow Uttaradit here in Florida but I have no idea where to buy that variety.

As far as I know, pruning this plant is up to your preference. Where I live it is a common landscaping plant and is frequently trimmed with hedge trimmers into a bush shape. When trimmed this way they don't produce much fruit if any though.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Was this cherimoya cold?

Cherimoya leaves can easily get beat up for a variety of reasons. They are also semi deciduous and drop their leaves in the spring to promote new growth/flowers.

Whatever is happening with your tree, I would give it little concern. I see way worse looking trees here in San Diego
