From observation they seem to be blooming well. Brewster, Sweet Cliff and Mauritius are doing great.

I have a 7 gal Hak IP bought last year

Blooming in a pot

When I left home for business trip , the flower was not opened yet

Oh my goodness. Looking at that tree I'm so envious.

I just bought a sweetheart lychee in a 15 gallon pot from Mimosa LA so nothing as yet

How old is your lychee tree JF?

these trees are over 30 years old the Brewster is over 30' it get's prune yearly......lychee are slow at first but can grow rather tall
I have a sweetheart in the ground for a year and it's slow growing

15 gallon Kaimana and Sweet Heart in full bloom...

JF is it safe to put them in the ground this week while they are flowering? I want to get em in the ground soon now the threat of Frost is over.

Wow, that is a very awesome looking tree.
Has it fruited for you regularly? and crop size?
My Hakip is flowering right now.
I have it for 4 years in the ground, the last two years it has dropped all the fruitlets and only harvested 1.

Where did you pick up the kaimana?

Atkins nursery in Fallbrook. bot 15g sweetheart and Kaimana.

I grabbed my Lychee trees from one of their freindly Nurseries in LA that constantly trade with each other on stock they need, I beleive it's Mimosa....I would check with Mimosa if their close to you.

15G Mauritius and Brewster in the ground just 3 weeks ago, both are flowering.
Mauritius was from Mimosa LA last December, which is much larger than the Brewster
from Emily's in Santa Ana.

My large Sweetheart/FZS has bit the dust due to an unknown cause but I still have a small Kaimana, Hanging Green and No Mai Tsze. The Mauritius I planted at my friends house is flowering.

Here is a picture of my Hanging Green with the beginnings of flower buds. This tree was acquired as an air layer last year and it is only about two feet tall and one foot wide. My new air layers tend to flower the first year they are in the ground but never hold the fruit.

I expect to get fruit from my Hanging Green and No Mai Tsze in about ten years. Five years of I'm lucky. I've tried pushing the growth of lychees with fertilizers and it definitely helps with the growth rate but I've killed too many trees and decided to rely on ground applications of organic fertilizer combined with occasional chemical and organic foliar feelings.

Here is a picture of a Lychee tree close to my house. Fruit set looks great. I'm not sure what variety it is but I'm going to talk to the owner when I get a chance.

Also someone asked about Kaimana in SoCal, here is a picture of Quangs Kaimana from songs Nursery.

It's better to wait until they are done flowering/fruiting for transplanting to avoid shock.

When i last checked my lychee set dropped 3/4 of the fruit...the other lychees look strong and healthy...i blame the pvp rupture that sent water jet blast too both trees.

Amazing growth indeed.
I have never seen lychee grow that much in less than a year. What conditions in your opinion were so favorable?

The tree skipped fruiting last year, so all the energy went into growth. Its loves the hot weather. This tree eats and drinks real good during the growing season. I pruned back the original tree to push the grafts to grow.

Hi there, what type of graft is it? I'm thinking it's a cleft graft as often used for mango, but not sure.
