Is this sabara 5, crown 1-3?
« on: April 09, 2023, 01:38:46 PM »
It's been a few years growing this mystery jaboticaba.
Since then Ive has a few forums members who know a lot more than I do on plinias check it out.
I bought this from a forum member and it ended up not being a red. All good though, he told me the original source was pine Island nursery. He must have gotten it around 2015.
I'm leaning to sabara 5 but I can't find much description about the tree.
Some observations I've seen from the tree is that the tree flushes new growth at the same time, leaves start off brown then expand into green and it's very brittle.
What do you guys think?

The ones offered by pine island during the 2015 era was sabara 5 and crowns 1,2,3
in my opinion, it looks more like a crown type.
Flnative may be able to chime in since he has all 3.

I have 1, 2, 3 on this cocktail and I believe it is one of them. Hard to get an exact idea which one this is, but it’s similar. I’ll keep an eye on it, it’s taking off right now.

My scions are from Achetadomestica and he says his are very close. I would base your success on when his are flowering / fruiting because I believe they are all same batch from Pine Island. My rootstock sabara is also nearly fruiting so hopefully that hastens it.
