There is still a lot of juice in it. Your tree will produce better lemons as it gets older.

I have 9 trees up to 15 gallons. Put 1 in the soaker with feed and go off to other chores. 2 hours later switch trees and more chores. switch out and fx& eat lunch. etc. it takes very little labor time to soak all 9 trees

Best wetting agent is warm water with the root ball completely submerged for an hour or more.

I do not know about sour mandarin an compatibility. I don't think kumquats would graft to sour mandarins

The Meiwa kumquat is incompatible to most rootstocks. Meiwa does well on Flying dragon, Poncirus trifoliata, K x R, and Benton citrange.

My Meiwa kumquat was grafted to Kuharske citrange. I had to run a Flying dragon next to it and graft the Meiwa to FD. After the graft took, I removed the Kuharske trunk.

You are correct but you won't oxygenate the soil like a vacuum does.

« on: February 24, 2023, 12:04:16 PM »Yes I get an extra quart or 2 of water with the vacuum after the the pot was done dip draining.The reason that the perched water table did not last long in poncirusguy's containers, is because he sucks it out with a vacuum cleaner.
Are you sure that would work? My understanding is its very difficult to remove except by evaporation and transpiration.

I put small rocks/ stones in the bottom of my pot followed by window screening. then potting mix. This allowed oxygen from down undr and above to penatrait the soil. The perched water table did not last long.

I will soak my trees in deep water for an hour or 2 then let it drip dry and follow up with the vacuuming for about 30 seconds. My bucket pots have a 50+ small 1/8 inch diameter holes. The larger pots have enough holes to work well.

I would say my Meiwa kumquat is the tastiest citrus. Cant buy them anyway so I grow them. My New Zealand lemonade comes in second.

If there are 2 seedlings on 1 root keep them together. If they are compete individuals separate them as soon as you can.
