Thats another name for chrysophyllum caimito i think,  pink abiu is pouteria bangii.

Yes the leaves look more like caimito than abiu.

Actually the texture and taste is very different in caimito from abiu. But yes these 2 often get compared.

Plenty of red starapples around and yes nothing like abiu. The pictured tree is clearly not an abiu but a starapple or near relative.

Caimito or "star apple" in buccaneer lingo is a fruit (Chrysophylum cainito) whose pericarp is purple, a dark purple, clearly not red. Maybe there is a variety out there that is red, but I have not seen it, in any that is definitely not in question for the subject of this thread.

The label of the plant is written in the Portuguese language and originates in Brazil, where indeed they often use the name "abiu roxo" for this species. But "roxo" in Portuguese translates to "purple" in English.

Where the confusion has been initiated is that OP huertasurbanas is a Spanish speaker, and in that language the similar word "rojo" means red. Felipe from Spain also seem to have fallen into the trap. This is all somewhat surprising, as I thought the Iberian languages had a fair amount of cross-cultural contact, at least for basic words like colors. I contacted huertasurbanas privately to correct the matter, but I have noticed over the years that a lot of people consider corrections some kind of personal assault on their fragile egoes. I love being corrected, for me it is about the improving accuracy, but for others they seem to become further stubborn in their ways, like it's some kind of personal vendetta. Que sera sera
