very nice harvest and excellent overview in comparing the different varieties by size.
Digital taste comparison would be nice  ;)

Not speaking for Teds ideas,  my thoughts would be how they taste? ( at least #11 and #20 would be interesting and different use case?  )

slopat,

I don't really know the taste of those two, #11 and #20. I don't use the leaves of the Makrut or zest the fruit. With the Buddha's hand fruit, I just grew it for the unusual shape but not planning to eat it.

No, this was only a joke. Due to the digitalisation progress in our society I thought as regarding digital pictures, it also would be nice if it would be possible to share the taste of the citrus varieties by gigital post.

The buddhas hand will perfume a room you place it in. I candied one once, and saved the remaing sugary liquid in the pot as syrup. It's a little bitter but I mix it into tea which gives it a nice flavor. Too much trouble otherwise, there is no pulp so you can't even use it as a lemon

I will need to put the Buddhas Hand fruit near me and see if I can smell the fragrance. I had a very small variegated Buddhas Hand last season, but it did not have much fragrance..

Here's the normal Buddhas Hand from this week.

I picked one Gold Nugget fruit, but it was still not ripe. I will need to wait until end of Jan-Feb before they are ripe here.

Here's the last of my December fruits picked:

My largest citrus fruit is the Thong Dee, it was 5 lbs last year. This year I have two large fruits on the same grafted branch and they look about the same size (3-5lbs). I will wait until end of January to pick the fruits again.

very nice fruits Kaz, saw that you also have Kaboshu, had the chance to buy it in a store this month, taste was not too bad but no comparison to sweet mandarins. I was main interested because if cold hardiness, but taste and cold hardiness (for my zone 7) are not satisfying for my opinion.
What are you using it for, while your other fruits are all delicious and sweet ?

The fruit is harvested green in summer for its acidic juice.

Ted, I don't use the Kabosu, just growing it since some people (family) like to use Yuzu and I read Kabosu is similar to Yuzu. The fruit seems to be larger so if the juice can be used for something then it will have more. My Yuzu grafted branches do not seem to get large fruits, maybe 1/2" smaller in diameter than the Kabosu. Also my grafts are not growing well on Flying Dragon so I'm planning to graft more budwood from UCR on another rootstock (alemow). The alemow rootstock I'm growing is super vigorous and it had 3 dozen large fruits this year. Now I have many seeds that I'm growing out.

I was growing Sudachi but the fruits were very small so I got rid of that one. I also have the Oni Yuzu which should get larger fruits than the normal Yuzu but I hear it doesn't have a lot of juice so it might be good for looks like the Buddha's Hand fruit.

I don't know the genetics of Citrus pseudogulgul off the top of my head, but you'll find oniyuzu/shishiyuzu not really like yuzu in any functional terms, more like a cross between a citron and a pomelo. They tend to be objects of display more than anything, although they do candy up quite nicely — I'm processing some for panettone right now!

Here's my last December fruits. These Satsuma fruits are from an old tree (40yrs) at my parents home. Two trees which usually has 500 fruits on each tree so 1000 total. Way to many fruits to eat so I give them away as soon as they start ripening in December. This group of fruits were unusual in that they were clumped like a cluster of table grapes.

I decided to pick one Thong Dee to give to a friend to try. Here's some photos of the one fruit, I thought it would weigh 5 lbs, but it turned out close but not enough.

Anyone else grow the Thong Dee and how do you like the taste/flavor?
