Mango Season 2026

2026 Mango Season

Hello fellow mango lovers and growers. Blooms have been popping here, at least on Sugar Loaf and Edward, maybe a few Glenns and Ceci Love. It rained 1.5 inches yesterday, and woke up to about 60F. Perfect time to treat; sprayed sulfur and kelp extract late this morning on the emerging blooms and leaves, will do every 7 - 10 days for a while.

2025 was our best season yet. I have been growing mangoes for over 11 years, longer if you include containers. Several of our trees are getting going good now, excited about the upcoming season.

Please share your experiences and post pics of your mango season 2026. While FL will likely be the main focus, all others feel free to share your experiences as well.

My Cac (chu) started blooming about 3 weeks ago, and now most of my trees are blooming except Pickering.
Compared to last year, this season started about a month earlier. A bit excited but also afraid the weird weather will hit us again.
I sprayed sulphur for the first time today. Good thing that pump sprayer broke at the end of the exercise.

Many varieties flowering here, some just pushing. Mahachanok is earliest. Pine Island, Lee County, FL (SWFL zone 10b).
We are in strong drought here, way below average soil is powder dry, our ditches hardly filled this year.

Valencia pride for me. Plant is now almost 5’ in a pot. Do you think I should see if it can hold fruit this year?

Roy - you got me motivated. Put down 70 lbs of Sul-po-mag all over our .26 acre lot.
Tomorrow spraying sulfur with the My4Sons sprayer with agitator. All the trees are much happier compared to last December.

This surprised me this morning. Panicle buds on north side of the tree. We just finished picking fruit in later September. I getting a weird season vibe. Did the drought do something to the tree. Never seen bloom this early on Keitt. We've been coexisting 30 years.

Yeah, that does sound weird. Glad I am NOT seeing bloom on mmm4 yet, and other trees. Definitely think the drought (mostly) and some mild cold spells (a little) had something to do with it. Had a brief rainy season later than usual, then dry again. We've been irrigating, but don't think it matters much when the rain is so scant.

Your Keitt will likely flower again, perhaps you will get a couple of crops. Will be interesting to compare early and late fruit.

October cold snap induced some bloom. My regiment after Thanksgiving is to prepare for Frost and freeze. The Farmer's Almanac gives a Rosie Outlook but with a wobbly polar vortex a couple of frost events are probably overdue we've been lucky the last couple of seasons. Also sprayed in the beginning of November to clean up any residual anthracnose from last summer #11
Will do an inventory of frost cloth and propane tank poundage this weekend. Start scrounging up available PVC for any structures of smaller trees that need to be built for frost cloth. Bloom is a beautiful thing but retention of fruit set is a spectacular beautiful thing. Things that early bloom trigger in my mindset are powdery mildew long durations of cold causing tree to abort fruit. Small fruitlets being very vulnerable to Anthracnose.
John 51 when will the West Palm Beach Garden gnome do a video on the blood mango from mango Fest. Rumor up here in Central FLorida is he has a video on using human excrement as a beneficial fertilizer for mangoes🤣

Human waste from fruitarians only.  He calls it "recycling."  :)  Let's not forget that the Chinese peasants of times past had their "night soil."

It's already on video. Paul went to TREC and asked Dr. Crane about "humanure" and pooping on his trees. Crane tries to caution him about potential pathogens in human waste and then wraps up the interview quickly after that.

https://youtu.be/PUZnPwLCIQg?si=1ZPclLWl8newWF1Z&t=843

Paul comically brushes off Crane's warnings and goes on to ask about septic systems and drain fields. "Even if dere's pestogens (sic), how's dat gonna, I mean..." He literally asked the #1 fruit tree professor in the state of Florida educational system about pooping under his trees. Madness.

lol, I agree with Dr. Crane, mangoes are doing great and no need to bring human pathogens and meds and stuff into the picture. Back to mangoes please!

Bovine, #11 refers to group 11 (azoxy)?  If so, did you add nufilm?
Couple weeks ago i hosed my trees with potassium phosphITE.  Looks like it cleaned branches & trunks some & leaves got darker.
I also have azoxy, used once beginning of yr.  Thinking i should get nufilm or equivalent to mix with it.

Edit- i corrected sulphite to phosphite.

My Kathy is pushing some growth. Carrie and Angie are quiet.
I do not think that my trees have been stressed by the drought. I have sprinklers there 3x/week.
Chatgpt says it’s quite normal for Kathy to push new leaves before the bloom. We will see about that.
Still hoping for a normal season.

Asparagus anyone?

Ceci Love getting weird. Cut some budwood in summer for a friend (didn't take), but I am rewarded with a panicle cluster.

M-4's last fruits were harvested in September, and it's flowering now:

Other firsts are too new to hold fruit, but include a Florigon, a Fairchild, and an Orange Sherbet:

Most anticipated? I *believe* these may burst out into buds here on a 2020 Madame Francis Seedling:

Coconut Cream is also blooming.
