Hi everyone, I’m actively looking for seeds of the small colorful species/varieties of Borneo Durians.
Here is a picture of such Durian I’ve savored on a trip to Kuching. I think it is D. graveolens? Or maybe D. dulcis? I would really love to grow these!

Please let me know pricing, or otherwise, I can also exchange for Amazonian fruits seeds.
Cheers,
Mathieu

That is graveolens. Hybrids are really the best, graveolens have a little amount of flesh, same with dulcis, which has red exterior. I’ve heard it is durio season now in Sabah,  graveolens can also take many years to fruit (20+)

Many thanks for the ID! Anyone knows if Durian seeds can be mail ordered from Borneo? Or is the short viability of seeds preventing it?

Yes, they can. There are a few great sellers that sell different Durio species seeds from Borneo. I've known people who have recieved the viable seeds that were shipped via DHL.

Maryoto is a long time seller of seeds from Borneo. You can try to reach out to him: https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1788

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to make sure I’m up to date with the latest best practices for shipping durian seeds.

From what I’ve gathered so far, the recommended method is to ship perfectly cleaned seeds in slightly damp coco coir or sphagnum moss, inside a ziplock bag with a few small air holes for ventilation. Is that still considered the best approach?

I’ve also read that viable shipping time ranges from about 1 week up to sometimes 3 weeks. On the other hand, I even saw a YouTube video claiming seeds could survive up to 4 months in damp styrofoam, which sounds… surprising to me.

I’d really appreciate your input, experiences, and advice on:

The best packing medium (coco coir vs sphagnum vs anything else),

How damp it should be,

Realistic shipping time limits before germination rates drop too much.

Cheers,
Mathieu

If you're ordering from Maryoto, ask him what has worked best for his customers.

I think the methods you described should be fine also. If fungicide is allowed, that may also be helpful.
