bump, still looking.

I saw Bellamy had some fancy brazillian cherapu seeds but I'm looking to get like 20 or 30 of them to try for 5+ seedlings for good chance of M+F.

brian, message forum member maryoto, he has some A lancifolius at the moment. He just haven't posted it yet.

I have cherapu in season but it's more then half a year until then. 20-30 is a lot of seeds, that's about 20-30 fruits because usually only one viable seed.

I will reach out to him, thank you!

For cherapu, I heard germination rate isn't all that good and because they are dioecious it seems like a lot of seeds are needed to have a good chance at a fruiting pair, so I'll take as many as I can get.  At some point I hope somebody in Florida will start selling seeds or seedlings of these and they can become more common.

On my last batch of G. Priniana I had 95% germination rate.
But there is definetly time difference between when they germinate as some are already 2 cm seedlings and some are just breaking out from the seed. And all those seeds where from the same tree the same day. That inside a plastic box with shad over, keeps it moist and warm!

They should become more common here too! It’s a winner tree in so many ways!!

Peace

Good to know, thank you.

I had similar experience with some achachairu seeds... nearly 100% germination rate but some took over a year to sprout!

Cherapu germination rate is good as long as seed is fresh. Not as good when they're not fresh.

I got zero from the 15 seeds I planted from last year's crop. I planted them the same day or the next day. In the female's container, I found a seedling while weeding.

I dunno what is typical for garcinias in general but I did find a million sprouted g. hombroniana / seashore mangosteen seeds on the ground when I visited the fruit and spice park.   I had ordered some cherapu seeds from fruitlovers.com a few years ago but got no germination.  I wish somebody would sell seedlings :)
