Mango flavor and soil/weather/etc.?
« on: May 12, 2020, 11:21:47 AM »
I saw the hothead "assumed expert" in a local Facebook tropical fruit group all but smack down someone for this legitimate question. Personally, I'm curious of the actual answer...

Soil conditions/type, weather conditions, season length.... all these things affect fruit. like a wine grape variety in one French valley not doing the same in a California valley.

What about mangos? I've heard they like  drier conditions, like in Arizona (assuming the soil and water are amended). But what does the flavor do in different environments? Does one variety taste like sweet gold in one location, but like paint chips in another? Has anyone ever collected thoughts on this?

I'm sure most facts would be anecdotal, but it's a start -- unless someone has a researched answer.
