Wanted: Seashore Mangosteen plant
PedalaiMaster:
Hey everyone, I did some research and found that the Seashore Mangosteen(Garcinia hombroniana) would be MUCH easier to grow and fruit here than normal mangosteen. So does anybody have or no of a source where to get plants? Thank-you

I think you'll be very lucky if you can even just find seeds! I may be able to supply you with seeds of G. benthamii in future. This species is almost identical to homborniana, but the taste of benthamii is better, not as sour.
PedalaiMaster:
Okay, thank-you Oscar, I already know where to get seeds, from Sadhu, I think you get like 4-6 seeds for $10.00, I would like the Garcinia benthamii better though, in how long will you have those? A year or two down the road? How do you think those would do OUTSIDE here?

My tree is flowering right now. They would be just as hardy as hombroniana. How well they will do in Sta. Barbara is anyone's guess. My guess is that with wintering indoors and misters the rest of the year you might get them to fruit.
PedalaiMaster:
When they are on Fruit lovers seed co. I will order 5 seeds.
