Cherimoya Tasting 2015?
« on: January 06, 2015, 05:00:22 PM »
Does anyone know the date of the tasting or if there will be a tasting this year?
I checked the OC newsletter but didn't find anything.
It's normally in late January.

Fang,

I think due to the low production and early harvest the tastings are cancelled.

Oh that explains it. Thanks.
My trees had very low production as well. 1 cherimoya left and all the atemoyas are splitting open in the last 2 weeks.

They are mixed bags of fruits so you don't know what's in them. El bumpo is one that's easy to tell by sight.

No you don't need to be a member but you should consider it since you are a few miles away from were the CRFG Orange County Chapter holds their meetings.

I plan to join for sure once my trees are big enough to produce. I planted my orchard last year so everything is still super tiny... :-/

I would say join as soon as you can. That way you can figure out which fruits your tastebuds like and grow/collect those. If you want to grow something like cherimoya, you can consider adding ones with the best flavor or that are super productive. You'll learn about fruits you haven't heard of before and want to start growing those as well.
