Hi,
Scouting the web for Passifloras edulis Red Rover and Frederick I realized that most of the plants sold under these names are not the true varieties. For example look at this one which is more "Incense" than "Frederick" :
http://www.jardinpourvous.com/index.php?/Passiflore/Passiflora-edulis-Frederick-1-arbrisseauMost of these plants are seedlings or simply have no direct link with true Frederick or Red rover. As we know that passifloras don't come true by seed I wondered how these plants can be sold under the name of the true hybrids Mr Patrick Worley created in Lincoln Acres many years ago.
I have an explanation : if these hybrids have not been patented by Mr Worley any dealer or nursery can call "Frederick" and "Red Rover" any passiflora they want.
Does a Passiflora specialist on the forum have some informations about this point ?
Phil
