Title: Cutting blackened, dead? but has roots

Someone graciously sent me a citrus cutting. I dipped it in hormone and planted it with a good humid environment. Tried to maintain airflow.

After 3 weeks, i had lots of white fuzzy mold on the stem, and it was a mostly blackened stick, so last week i set it outside in a Phoenix winter as a casualty to learn from. Need room for other experiments.

Today i cut away the cup just to see how bad I’d failed... but found the green end of a root! So i quickly added moisture and brought it back inside in a new pot.

But... does it really stand a chance with the cutting itself looking pretty dead?? I’ve been pretty cruel to it.

Looks unprobeable, but if the stock is not dead there is always a chance.
